Here is some usefull information if you intend to lodge a tourist and a spouse visa at the same time in Bangkok.

I know becasue we did it over the last 2 weeks.

We went to VFS , Bangkok and lodged both applications.

Only hickup there was they wanted 4 pics of me. I couldnt see any where in the apps 4pics of me were wanted. No big deal 250 baht in VFS office.

That was Monday last week. Friday the au emabassy called my wife and asked her why she wanted to go to australia. This is her second tourist visa. She told them i want to be with my husband. They said ok we can only give you 3 months because you lodged a spouse app.

No probam 3 months is fine. Thanks.

This morning they send an email to me saying before the tourist visa will be approved a police check for each country she has been in is needed and a thai police check, also a health check.

This is unusual because a health check is not asked for untill you have case officer and police checks are not asked for untill months in the application.

I told them they already have the cambodia police check in the application and that Thai is applied for and expected soon, that we will get a health check today.

So of we went to a hospital near the Australian embassey in Silom.

The hospital said they need what is called a HAP ID before they will do a health check.

Trying to phone the emabassy is impossible so we walked over there.

Finally we got in and got a form printed with HAP ID on it.

The person we talked to said the tourist visa will be approved when the health check and police checks are in for the spouse visa.

I asked for my wifes passport back and they said no.

It will be returned when the tourist visa is approved.

Back to the hospital.

3000 baht later they send the results to the embassey.

I have never jumped through so many hoops in my life.

If you want to lodge both have your police checks first and get a HAP id from them before you to a hospital. No HAP the hospital will not do.

Now we wait on the thai police document.

Also now they tell me they want the cambodian ministry of justice criminal clearance certificate original not the translated version.

If i missed anything ask me

Hi Ray,

Please, excuse my ignorance. What has Cambodia got to do with

you app? Was your wife born there?

With all the problems between the two counties lately I hope that it

does'nt cause you any extra headaches.

Best of luck mate.

Cheers, Scabo
