Trevor25222
For PCs Voipstunt merely requires a software download. For Macs they recommend a 'SIP Device' and X-Lite software. Can anyone recommend a suitable SIP connection box, or is the X-Lite all I need? Their instructions are very poor. Or is there a simpler solution to Voip telephony on a Mac? It's just that I already have a Voipstunt account with funds to use. Thanks. Edited May 18, 2011 by Trevor25222
REM
For telephony on MAC, I simply use Skype with their subscription. No problems whatsoever, and it works great to use the same account on the iPhone as well!
skiller
@@Trevor Are you looking for hardware such as an ATA? Here a link for Zoiper incl. Mac version, easy to configure for voipstunt http://www.zoiper.co...wnload_list.php Or in case you have an iphone, choose http://www.wi-fone.org As well you can send SMS with Wifone together with Voipstunt, I guess it is pre configured In case of problems with the config come back Cheers Michael Edited June 1, 2011 by skiller

No problem with a PC as only software is required. But for a Mac, the VOIPStunt website tells me I can use a 'SIP device' which appears to be a simple connection box with sockets for Power-WAN-LAN-Phone (can I get away without this?). It also tells me I need a Softphone such as X-Lite which I have downloaded. "You can use VoipStunt with the following types of SIP devices" SIP ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) SIP Router xDSL Modem When at base I use VOIPStunt's online phone-to-phone function which works well. However when travelling I would be using either the Mac's 'Airport' Wi-Fi function OR an ethernet cable OR possibly a USB broadband modem for my Internet connection. Using the built-in microphone and speakers, is the X-Lite 3.0 'Softphone' all I need to use VOIPStunt with the above travel options, or do I need an SIP connector as well? Their instructions at http://www.voipstunt.com/en/sipp.html are terrible! Thank you for your interest. Edited June 3, 2011 by Trevor25222
Darrel
As long as you can find a software VOIP/SIP client for your Jesus Apple device, it should work perfectly well with voipstunt. Just as it would with any other VOIP/SIP provider. X-lite is such an OSX-compatible SIP client. You do not need a SIP device, unless you particularly want one for ease of use. Skype, of course, is a proprietary protocol.

GmB
I tried several of the MAC clients (Zoiper, x-lite.....) I ended up with Blink for Voipdiscount.

skiller
Caller ID Name : what is this? same as username? Put any number in it. Usually you can verify your phone number, lets say mobile number with voipstunt, if you have verifyed the number, you can add your real phone number. In this case voipstunt will send your caller ID. SIP-server : sip.voipstunt.com Do I need to enter this anywhere in Zoiper? No need and no Stunserver need. You make a big deal with that, it is very easy to configure it out.
