Hi

I have a Thai wife and a step-son with her. He is 9. My parents live in France.

I know that we have to apply for a Schengen Visa which there is no problem for her. My lad is not her's by Court Order but under a document sworn before the local mayor. That was acceptable to UK as evidence of sole custody but not to the French. We do not know where the Dad is he disappeared when the boy was 2 months old and no one know's his location.

I don't think the French will accept us as it stands.

What occurs to me is that we can probably get into Holland who will give up to a 3 month visa from what it says on their web site.

There is nothing to stop you that i can see having got a Schengen visa going to any of the Schengen Countries.

So i am thinking go to Holland for a couple of days. Comply with the visa by returning to the UK. Then go to France the next day. Any thoughts as to whether this is likely to work ? I know it says on the visa that possession of a visa is not a guarantee of entry to a Schengen Country.

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts, as i can't believe that i am the first to experience this.

Also i have seen on all the sites that they say if your visa is stamped spouse of an eu/eea citizen then the spouse doesn't have to obtain a Schengen visa. How do you get that stamp as she is on of those.

Lastly sorry to be cheeky and i welcome answers or help on any or all questions. What thoughts about the possiblilty of applying to the English & Welsh Courts for a declaration that we have joint custody of the boy. I say English not to be rude to the Scottish but just that is the jurisdiction. If we don't get the visa this year we are going to Lossiemouth.
