The Fine Arts Department has contacted the Royal Thai Army to assist in the restoration of royal chariots to be used at the royal funeral of HRH Princess Bejaratana, and the Royal Thai Navy to make Manila Rope to pull the chariots, a senior official said yesterday

Four grand performances, including Khon, shadow play, puppet play and stage play, were being prepared for the princess's royal cremation day.

Fine Arts Department director-general Somsuda Leeyavanich said that Vice Marshal Avudh Ngernchuklin, who will design the crematorium along with seven former Fine Arts department chiefs would attend a meeting next week to offer advice.

The meeting will also delegate works to related agencies under the department: the Architecture and Handcraft Office will be in charge of building the royal crematorium and related components; the National Archive was already in charge of recording everything related to the royal funeral since July 28, while the Office of Performing Arts would be arranging sorrowful traditional music five times a day during the 100-day mourning period.
