I am an American, 49 Years old, I have a Thai Wife, I hold a Non Immigrant O visa, I did all the paperwork to get the 1 year visa. I was hired by a Thai company to work in Marketing Specialized 3D Software, I got the work permit without changing the visa, and Last month on October 6, 2011, I resigned. I asked the company for a letter stating i resigned stamped by them, and they sent me a letter showing me that they canceled the work permit on November 2 2011. I have read on some posts where they say I dont have to do anything, that i can keep the work permit for a souvenir. IM not really sure if I can even get to the labor department because of the flooding. Since I dont have to leave the country and come back as a tourist, since they already canceled it do I need to still take it to the labor department? Can I send it by mail?

Best to confirm by phone with the labour office that the WP is indeed cancelled. If it is there should be no need to visit the labour office, presuming you were working in Bangkok. Some labour offices have different opinions about handing in the WP.
