19 year old arrested following assault and robbery at convenience store in Sattahip

SATTAHIP: -- A 19 year old man stabbed a shop owner and stole her money and a gold necklace out of desperation to pay an outstanding football gambling debt. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Bang Sarae, just outside of Pattaya at a family-run convenience store. At the time, Khun Arom aged 37 was inside the store when the suspect, Khun Yutapong entered armed with a knife. He grabbed Khun Arom and held the knife at her throat, demanding all cash and valuable be handed-over. She resisted and was stabbed twice in her abdomen before the suspect fled with her gold necklace and money box containing 1,600 Baht in notes and coins. Police soon arrived and searched local woodland for the suspect who was quickly found, as was the knife used in the robbery. Khun Yutapong confirmed he was desperate for money to pay back the gambling debt and he saw this as his last option.
