After making a special and expensive trip from E. Europe to UK specifically to get a Thailand tourist visa, I have now had to cancel my plans because of the floods.

What to do now? Must I repeat my trip the Britain to obtain another visa? Many, many other people must be facing a similar problem, and I wonder that the Thai government has not put in place provisions to somehow easily extend these visas; wouldn't it be nice to arrive in Bangkok in say, six months from now and be able to get an automatic extension to a visa at the airport? I for one, wouldn't mind paying again for the extension. Cheers- Septeen

Assuming you are not from the UK why don't you just get a tourist visa in your country when you are ready to visit ?

The floods have been news for sometime now!!

"You can get a 30 day visa on arrival VOA anytime you arrive by air in Thailand, at the airport. What is the problem?"

The problem is that many nationalities aren't eligible for VOA. Your nationality, for example.

I'm guessing that you aren't talking about a visa on arrival, but a visa exempt entry.

A lot of people get tourist visas through the mail.

Is there any reason that you cannot get a Tourist visa here?

to explain more clearly. My current Thai visa expires second week of December; I don't want to come then.

Doesn't that mean in effect, that next year when I want to travel, - I have no visa. So, arriving at the Bangkok airport, I would not be admitted to the country because visas must be acquired in another country. In Croatia, I checked to find out where was the nearest place I could obtain a visa; the answer was in Vienna.

My original country is the UK but I haven't lived there in a very long time. Getting the visa by mail is just as expensive as physically going to the nearest consulate because materials, including my passport would have to be sent guaranteed delivery by courier service; the prices for that are more expensive than flights on Ryanair! -Septeen
