There is no such thing as an EAA visa. There is, however, an EEA Family Permit.

(EEA = European Economic Area)

All EEA nationals have an economic treaty right to live and work in any other EEA state. As part of this, so do their family, even if their family member(s) are not EEA nationals.

Each EEA state has it's own way of dealing with this regulation, in the UK the non EEA national family member applies for an EEA Family Permit.

The regulations do not apply if the EEA national is living in the EEA state of which they are a citizen, with some exceptions. So, EEA Family Permits are not available to family members of British citizens, unless said British citizen has dual nationality with another EEA state or has been exercising their economic treaty rights in another EEA state and is now returning to live in the UK.

So, if you are an EEA national living in the UK your wife applies for an EEA Family Permit. If you are British then she applies for a spouse visa.
