Krub
The Thai Embassy in Tokyo will only issue me a tourist visa (not an non-im O) I have enough funds in a Thai bank to meet the 1 year retirement requirement and am 57 years old Will any immigration office convert a Tourist visa to a non-im O and then extend it for 1 year or is it done only in Bangkok ? Thanks
lopburi3
Not all will do and in that case you can use Bangkok for the conversion and then return to normal office for the extension of stay.
Jingthing
What Thai immigration office do you plan to use for your retirement extension? With that information, someone here may be able to tell you whether that office will also do the first step, the change of visa status from tourist to O. Mario2008
http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/intro1.html choose Ciang Wattana office.
lopburi3
Proof of meeting extension of stay other than financial seasoning requirement. So bank account with 800k or embassy letter of 65k monthly income or combination plus passport/form for conversion (varies by type of entry)/fee 2,000 baht/4x6cm photos/evidence of residence. For bank account both passbook and copies plus letter from branch manager of account balance. Upcountry two or three copies of everything will be required but for Bangkok only one copy.
