petercool
It is not at all humorous to me that these cases are very common, nor that effects of these drugs can leave a person disoriented for days, nor that even if a copy of a girl's ID is taken at the reception desk (which it should be) the reality is that a name and pic alone can't help as that ID might only have her home town address and none for Pattaya. These crimes are very difficult to solve and unless a report is made with her ID that might in the future flag her name on the central computers in another case where she is present (yes computer systems do exist) then she might get away with this many times. I feel for the guy but it pays to be very aware that drinks in your room with a stranger (or even in some bars) can be spiked.
pauljones
For every report here, there are hundreds more. Attempted murder should be the charge.

monty1412
Do you remember the spy movies where the lady serves up the dashing spy a martini or whatever and he cunningly swaps the drinks when she isnt looking... it would be good to have the mental clarity back in the room when the beers or breezers are opened to be able to do this.... sad comment on state of affairs that we are even thinking about this but like to get one back at them. Drug her out then call the cops and get her taken away
kurnell
I think the best advise I can give newcomes to Pattaya is to paint a picture of open eyes on your eyelids in case you are drugged and fall asleep, then the girl with think you are still awake. cardholder
Fortunately, the hotel will be able to provide a copy of the girl's ID - as I am sure no self-respecting hotel would allow a guest into their rooms without taking suitable ID.. cali4995
i think the story stated that reception staff had not obtained either the i.d. card or a copy of it. really silly in this day and age that so many of these guesthouses/hotels still don't comply with the most rudimentary security procedures. and of course no working cctv so image a rough image of the lass nobody has. and what? a room safe that can be opened with a screwdriver? katana
I was reading that story in Thairath a couple of weeks ago and did a quick translation at the time. The Thai version adds a few more details. It's claimed the lady in question had an 'unusual' way of administering the drug to the unfortunate victim. Elderly Englishman Sucks Pattaya Beach Girl's Nipples, Falls Asleep on his Bed and is Robbed of One Million Baht (Thairath 29/01/12) Englishman sucks Pattaya beach girl's nipples - Is tricked and falls asleep - His safe is broken into and 1000,000 Baht in valuables stolen - The Chief of Police orders an immediate hunt for the culprit At 3:30 pm on the 29th January 2012 Police Major Kriangkraiwutthi Buakla, duty officer at Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a foreigner who had been drugged and robbed in his room at Jasmine Villa, room no 105, Soi Bua Khao Pattaya Klang, 33/ 148- 149 Village 9, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphoe Bang Lamung in Chonburi province. The information was relayed to his superiors and they went to investigate along with Pattaya City Chief of Police, Police Colonel Nanthawutthi Suwannalaong, the Deputy Superintendent of the Communications Division Police, Lieutenant Colonel Rat Pratumkaew and uniformed officers. At the scene was a male foreigner, Mr Brian Herbert Richmond, 63, an English national lying semi-concious on his bed wearing jeans and a white and purple striped polo neck tee shirt. He stated: "I met a Thai lady aged about 20-25 on the beach in Pattaya Klang at about 1:00am and I invited her back to my room for the night. Later on as I was engaged in foreplay on her nipples, I began to feel dizzy and fell unconscious. When I came to, I saw that my safe which was in my wardrobe had been broken onto with its door prised open and £30k in sterling, 1.2 million Thai Baht, a diamond-studded gold ring and a gold chain with a total value of 1.5 million Baht was missing." [these figures don't quite add up?]. After interviewing the victim further, Police Colonel Nanthawutthi Suwannalaong, Pattaya City Chief of Police, ordered officers from Pattaya City Police station to apprehend the robber so she can be prosecuted and brought to swift justice. http://www.thairath....t/region/234364
