As to why are they demolishing the house, I am not sure, but it is very, very common in the Middle East to do that sort of thing. So no surprise that anyone from a military base a kilometre wouldn't know. Why would you think they would/should know if the CIA after all their effort right next door couldn't confirm it. The CIA were able to move into the Abbottabad spy-house for the same reasons that Bin Laden was able to remain in the city undetected. Having dealt with a number of Middle Eastern secret police personnel over the years, my bet would be in the 99% category that someone in the ISI knew exactly what was going on there and who was living there. If the US couldn't confirm his presence there, why did they attack? Our current President doesn't exactly take risks in his decision making. We noticed an individual who was pacing in the courtyard who at least had some of the appearances of it. A house would be so contaminated that the DNA would be a greater hindrance than help to anything of a scientific nature. Whether they demolish the house or not is an internal matter for the Pakistani gov't to decide. Anything of any value, forensic or otherwise I am sure has been removed. Apparently, the Pakistani authorities disagree, for reasons I don't fully understand. It also seems that you doubt whether he was there, or that he was shot there, or that he is dead. Good intelligence operatives would have taken the opportunity to mess with AQ to a much greater degree than the US President. Imagine if they led AQ operatives to believe he was alive and being questions at some undisclosed location in an undisclosed country? They had all the thumb drives, hard discs and other information. He could link it all together and fill in the blanks. AQ would be in total disarray. It's hard to appoint a leader if your leader is still alive. What will he say? Sodium Pentathol works well. There would be a long network of even more paranoid, scared operatives. Announcing his death and disposing of his body ended the story. Like all deaths, they appointed a new leader and moved on with their work, such as it is. Pakistan now wishes to close their chapter in this not-so-pleasant saga.
