And what are the chances the reds did it?

Didn't the wiki leaks cables from the USEmbassy state the Yellow Shirts, during their riots downtown, had planned to instigate a situation where at least a dozen of their own would conviently get killed as to compell a military coup?

lol, why would the men in black want to burn down a shopping mall? Was there some secret UFO base in the basement?

Back home, a politician would throw a brick thru his own living room window and then claim it was the opposition, to gain sympathy.

What are the chances the Yellow group were up to their old tricks attempting to make the Reds look bad, setting fires etc?

Oh please! After all the threats to burn BKK if they didn't get what they wanted, somebody else did it to make them look bad? Don't you think they had done a good enough job of making a good image with the bombs, grenades, blood-smearing, hospital invasions, corpse parading and all their other antics? Or was that "fake reds" too?

Are you re-living your Travis Bickle role? Or trying for Walter Mitty?

Also the BP, and I watch Thai TV news. Which gives me a better recollection of the events than some fantasist trying to rewrite history.

attempting to make the Reds look bad, setting fires etc?

.

The Red Shirts need no assistance in looking bad.

They excel very well in that regard on their own.

Yes, you are quite right as usual.

No evidence of men in black.

No convictions in the WTC / Zen fires.

Resounding win in national elections.

Bangkok Governers election probably closest ever.

Coroners courts verdicts that in several of the cases so far heard, the probability is murdered , sorry, shot by the Army.

Reducing conflict with Cambodia.

Economy growing and doing well.

Stock market high.

Unemployment ( like decimation ), not so bad.

Foreign investment up.

Ever increasing international recognition for the current administration.

Possibly some moves towards something of a peaceful break through with the southern problem. ( although I am sure you will try to denigrate this ).

Even a General indicted for corruption.

The country is in far better overall state than it was only 2 years ago.

Yes, you are right, the place is going to hell in a hand cart................

I should think that Deves laid off the risk on several markets and it would be interesting to find out who the underwriters are. The company claims that paying out will not affect their future stability.

You may feel your comment is a charientism but that is due to gambrinous or a philosophunculist nature but you are in reality inaniloquent.

And what are the chances the reds did it?

I would say the chances are excellent.

On January 29, Arisman Pongruengrong, another hardcore red leader, told a red rally: "We'll have an appointment next time. If they are going to crack down on us, we don't need to prepare anything much. Just bring along your cups or bottles, which you can fill up with at least one litre of gasoline. If one million of us come to Bangkok, we'll have one million litres of gasoline. I can assure you that Bangkok will turn into a sea of fire."

Whats generally ignored in these conspiracy theories about the central world fire was that there was systematic arson all over bangkok and parts of thailand orchestrated by reds.

There was a denial by the mall owner about the reds setting fire to his place, but that was clearly just a business position as he stood to lose billions.

You may say that, Waza.

I couldn't possibly comment. smile.png

Do you know that Thailand was considered one to be one of the most democratic countries in SE Asia and was thought to have the one of the most diverse and most free presses prior to 2001 in this region. There is plenty to criticize of course, but could anyone have done a better job of getting thailand to that position? And if you could criticize without having a better arrangement,
what would be the point?

What you have to look at are Thailand's peers, which are other SE asian countries and compare Thailand with them. Don't take the propaganda by either side too seriously. The reds (in general and esp the the known faces in high positions in the UDD) are as serious about establishing democracy as the yellows are about getting rid of corruption. Its a dirty little power struggle where the losers have been the thai people. Only a minority in thailand are red or yellow.

Anyway, more fool the government for dubbing civil insurrection as terrorism.

A very good point and a big mistake by the government of the time.

There was civil insurrection and terrorism during the protest, what else do you call the many bombings during that period?

It doesn't matter what i call it, but legally it makes a big difference what the government calls

You think they are going to get a terrorism conviction?
