Hi all,

We are planning our trip through Asia and will be coming from Malaysia into Thailand in about Feb 2007 :o

We have been happily working out a rough itinarary, spending time camping on various islands in the National parks, when we suddenly realised we have 29 days accounted for and we were still too far away from Mynamar to do a boarder run!

Using this great site, we found out about the Tourist visa, that is issued for 60 days with a 30 day extension. Carrying on with our draft itinarary we then found that we needed more than 90 days to go to all the places that we wanted to!

Could someone tell us if it is possible, when a tourist visa is about to expire, can we go to another country (for about a week or more) then come back into Thailand and get the 30 day visa on arrival? Then do that again?

Or is there another visa we should be looking at?

thank you for your time :D

Yes you can exit/return to get another 30 days or you could obtain a two or three entry tourist visa to start with which would give you another 60 days on each entry.

You can go to another country for ten minutes and get your 30 days on the way back.

Instead of starting a new thread I'll take a chance and see if anyone notices this :o

If you overstay a multple entry tourist visa for a few days, will the next 60 day period be cancelled when you go across the border or do you just pay the fine and everything goes back to normal?

It's a bit like when you extend a multiple for one month at the immigration in Bangkok, you consequently loose the next period of your multiple for the sake of the extended month. Not the same as my question of course.

Tourist visa as issued as 1,2,3 or 4 entry rather than using the word "multipal" but if you overstay and pay your fine things should be ok - but you do have that record in your passport so there may well be a cumulative effect if more than one is seen or there is a change in policy, as happens sometimes. It is not wise to overstay.

Hi ,

would follow lop3 advise.

You can plan as follows : get a multiple(2-3)Tourist Visa , plan to stay on yr59 th day somewhere near a border/Ranong/Mae Sai,NonKhai, Ubon or Malaysia n make a border run . This would also save you the THB1,900.- for the 30 days extention. I think the charges for Mynmar entry is USD 5.- , Visa for Laos depends on Nationatity n for Cambodia around 1000.- , Malaysia free.

Enjoy planning yr trip
