I am currently on my third year of back to back non 'O' visa which expires at the end of the year. I had used the minimum 400,000 in the bank route when previously applying for the visa.

I am presently in negeotions to start a new job here and would like some advise/ info.

I have read that there are minimum salary conditions for different nationals when applying for work permits. My question is if this takes precedence over the 40,000 a month required as to when applying for O visa. For example, a british national needs a minimum salary of 50,000 for a company to apply for a work permit. Are there exceptions for foreign nationals already here on a spouse O visa? Can I use the 40,000 as a monthly salary and ignore the required 50,000. I guess not but just want to check.

Secondly, how does this effect my chances/requirements of applying for residency in the long run? Is there anything I should be doing to make it easier later on?

Thanks.

As long as you keep that O extension of stay for support Thai wife the 40k figure is all you need to meet. So yes you can ignore the 50k requirement.

PR has been hard to obtain without local employment so having it is helpful. However the 40k figure is probably going to be too low so it may not help all that much. But who knows what requirements may be down the line.

How is the process different for the employer who hires a foreigner without any visa whatsoever?

Could you rephrase that? I don't have any idea what you are asking.

Sorry, a bit ahead of myself.

I meant to ask how the application process for a employer wanting to hire a new person who's never been here is different to him hiring someone like myself who is here with a non O visa. I ask this because he that told me the minimum is 50,000. I just want to get back to him with what he should do to ingore the 50,000 and go with the 40,000. Am I making sense now?? :o

Also, thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated.

There is a slightly different paperwork trail involved but I don't remember the exact process. Believe Sunbelt or Indo-Siam posted the process so you might be able to find with a search. Although if you can get the job at 50k why tell him? :o

Basic difference is you have O visa rather than the B visa they are familiar with.

Thanks Lopburi, I'll do a search but if anyone remembers what that thread was please let me know.

Definitely could do with more but I wanted to know my options.

Thanks again.

If you are being employed with an extension of stay based on marriage. The minimum salary is 40,000 Baht per month. You then do not need to show a deposit of 400,000 Baht every year.

If you are being employed with an extension of stay based on business. For European it is a minimum salary per month of 50,000 Baht.

I'm on a married non 'O' visa. So in my case the minimum would be 40,000 correct?

Correct. It does not matter what your nationality is... its only 40K per month.
