Chiang Mai selected as one of Asia’s Top-10 Cities of Charm at ASEAN-China Expo

CHIANG MAI, 6 September 2012 (NNT) – Thailand’s northern capital Chiang Mai has been selected as one of Asia’s top-10 cities of great charm.

Ms. Panchit Pitsawong from the Office of Commercial Affairs Chiang Mai said on Wednesday that Chiang Mai Province has been selected to be one of the 10 countries named as “Asia’s City of Charm” at the 9th ASEAN-China Expo, which will be held in Nanning Prefecture, Guangxi Province of China during September 21st and 25th.

At the Expo, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) will be leading the Thai exhibitions which will see 122 booths to showcase products from Thailand.

Ms. Panchit said that Chiang Mai will be presenting a number of its strong qualities, from culture to handicrafts, healthcare and culinary, along with representatives from other 9 ASEAN member countries at a special pavilion, under the theme “Science and Technology”.

Moreover, exhibitors from Chiang Mai will focus on promoting the province as a Food Valley, through the exhibition of its major crops, such as rice and longan, as well as traditional Thai massage techniques to fair-goers.
