December 5, 201213 yr Korkaew's bail rejected The Nation BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court yesterday rejected Pheu Thai MP and red-shirt leader Korkaew Pikulthong's request for bail even though his reason was that he needed to attend His Majesty's birthday celebrations. The court said the reason was not justified and that there was no guarantee he would not violate the bail conditions again. Korkaew had his lawyer Jessada Chandee submit the bail request at 11am by posting assets worth Bt600,000 as a guarantee. His bail was revoked on November 30 on grounds that he had directed intimidating comments at Constitution Court judges in a press conference. Korkaew is among the 24 suspects facing terrorism charges in relation to the 2010 political violence. In the bail application, Korkaew told the court that as an MP, he had to join a ceremony wishing His Majesty well today. He said the PM had also invited him to attend a garden party in honour of the King on Friday. The MP also reminded the court that as a member of the House committee on economic development, he would need to attend weekly meetings as well as fly to Europe from Saturday to December 14 as a member of the panel. In the request, Korkaew said he never intended to cause disturbance and that he even told members of the red-shirt movement to cancel all activities that might lead to trouble. He said that red-shirt supporters saw him as a peaceful person, adding that detaining him would not bode well for the country. He also reminded the court that he needs to take care of his wife and two children. -- The Nation 2012-12-05

December 5, 201213 yr This person must think he is the most important person in the country to keep making threats the way he does, 'refusing to bail him would not bode well for the country'. What an ego, does he walk on the ground or float on hot air? Sent from my GT-I9003
December 5, 201213 yr These criminals are soooo transparent and not very smart as demonstrated by: " his reason was that he needed to attend His Majesty's birthday celebrations". What a scumbag trying to use His Majesty's birthday as an excuse (any excuse). And stupidly the PM offers him an 'invitation'. No brains there either or just another political ploy or 'faux pas'. This guy needs to be inside and preferably chained.
December 5, 201213 yr Rice schemes being exposed, coffeegate exposing the deputy PM's more thugish nature and now PT MPs not being able to bribe their way out of trouble. What's going on? Someone send for Chalerm to sort this all out before the gravy train is truly derailed. Edited December 5, 201213 yr by Bluespunk
December 5, 201213 yr Say things that break the law, or rules of your employment and expect to get punished. Cathay Pacific stewardess or MP, why should it be different. I have to attend a ceremony. Very lame effort.

December 5, 201213 yr I guess it was the mentioning of the "Garden Party" that brought his application down in flames. This shows that he is not the brightest light in the dimwit red shed.
