webfact
Somchai backs referendum plan The Nation BANGKOK: -- Former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat said yesterday that he supported the government's plan to hold a public referendum over the charter amendment impasse. He cited the fact that the Constitution Court had recommended that the public should have a say in the matter. The government does not have to take responsibility if there are not enough votes in a public referendum, Somchai said, but can resort to amending the Constitution article by article. Somchai also dismissed rumours that the wedding of his daughter Chayapa Wongsawat to Cambodian MP Nam Linan is political motivated. "It is about the love of two people who want to share a future. As father, I support my daughter to have life stability,'' he said. -- The Nation 2013-01-

Buchholz
Perhaps the media should at least wait out his banned from politics status has passed before asking him his opinion on politics. Congrats to his daughter for getting married. When will she enter politics like her sister...until getting thrown out of Parliament and banned from politics, like her Dad and Mom, for lying on her asset declarations? What a family. . rubl
he supported the government's plan to hold a public referendum Last year (five days ago, that is), we had PM Yingluck say "One of the options is to hold a referendum vote before activating the charter rewriting process, ..." Does k. Somchai's remark mean the PM made a decision on this?
Ricardo
Shin-clan family-member & reluctant former-PPP-PM agrees with Thaksin/PTP policy suspected to be all about an amnesty for the Big Boss. And in related news, bears continue to relieve themselves in wooded areas, no doubt ?
