Goompa
Thank you for your reply , I had said in a previous post that we had dug into a water table . This is not the land on which we are going to live , but I do want to fix any problems we may have.
RedBullHorn
Shaggy and Tywais got it right, those are iron minerals composite, discolouration are rust. It will ooze out of the pond bed if pond is dry due to high water table... Once the pond is filled, water in the pond will act as a pressure to counter it from oozing out. No problem to rear fishes in them.

RedBullHorn
Can someone help me please ? We had a large hole dug , and the result was this discolouration . Will this be detrimental to the raising of fish ? I would like to know from your opinion what this is , and problems I need to address this issue with , Thank you , I hope this is not a Major problem. I also notice that you have a loamy soil condition (more to the sandy portion), if you don't want the pond banks to collapse, advise that you do some reinforcement concrete work on them, or else the pond slopes will disappear in a matter of time. Goompa
Yes , thanks RBH , I know this problem for the sandy-loam situation , the holding is good for the water , I am just concerned that if I put fish in the water they will not live too good , that's all , don't aspire to be a fish farmer yet , wait until all the other options run out , 55555555555

That's a new one to me also, have never seen them that small before. That bunch looks mighty full.........is there a third photo with you walking off with it over your shoulder? Popular Post Ron19
This is an update on the trial plot of rice that I have posted before. You can see clear differences in the separate plots. Most have seed already and some have noticabley more than others,so what they are trialing for appears to be working.

No,not at all. It's growing from inside the wat and the bunch is hanging over the wall.I would never think of stealing from buddha and besides that it isn't ripe yet. cornishcarlos
Am happy I didn't have to plant this lot. These photos are just getting far too professional... I know this one will speak to David The VF is to blame for sure....Good work Shaggy.. I'll stick to out of focus, upside down Ipad efforts... Popular Post shaggy1969
Here's some Guinea fowl for you Carlos (or at least that's what I think they are) Very shy birds and didn't want their photo being taken. I suppose it didn't help me chasing them up and down the street trying to get a better shot. (out of focus as well....just how you like them) Edited September 29, 2013 by shaggy1969
Popular Post shaggy1969
One of the problems faced by the rice farmer are caused by the Apple snail that lays it's eggs on the young rice plants. Good news for the newly hatched apples snails, but bad news for the farmers as they watch the crop being eaten away.

Out of focus speaks to me of frenetic activity, which is what these birds are all about.. Sorry David, couldn't help myself
Popular Post samuijimmy
Samui Coconuts! This was July 21.... I keep meaning to stop and take a photo of the pile now finished.... It's taken nearly a year to go through it all... It's really too bad they burn it all instead of grinding it up and making compost for soil amendment ... Shaggy..... you underestimate how good some (most)..... of your photos are Edited September 29, 2013 by samuijimmy
shaggy1969
^^ That is a monstrous coconut mountain there Jim.I wouldn't fancy the job of splitting all of those. Do they burn all the fibers inside the outer shell also?I ask this because Mrs shaggy buys bags of the stuff for when she is re-potting her orchids. Regarding the comment you made about my photo. Firstly.... thank you for the compliment Secondly.....I do like the photos I have posted, but being an rank amateur I am always a bit unsure if others look at them the same that I do. It's also a major problem with the Fish Ponds as well ... the eggs are everywhere that's stationary that's on the water at the Farm. Cleaning the pond ... Apparently ducks are a well used local solution. Trouble is the dogs killed the duck ... .

Popular Post samuijimmy
oh darn, I drove by the coconut husking place today and forgot to stop.... ....Some where I posted months ago the whole pile (well most of it.... ) too much effort to look where !!! Some beans getting going... they will need the bamboo supports soon! This leaf miner has been a curse .... more so this year than I remember seeing in previous years.... affecting many veggies ... just makes the effort of growing a total waste of time... .... only makes food for the piggies! Anyone know of an "organic" way to prevent this .... ?.... I'd hate to beans in first image with the beans, to meet the same fate.... the 14 year old kid who grows this stuff puts his heart and soul in to trying.... I have tried suggesting a few "mixes" of chilly, garlic etc to no avail.......... He's dead against chemicals... I grab them for the dogs when I can and every morning take a handfull ,steam them then chop finely and mix with rice to make the base for their morning meal.I steam them rather than fry because one of the dogs has a pancreas problem that is affected by fat. Popular Post Goompa
I would firstly like to say that my first trip to Thailand was not full of Landscape Images , Farm Images ,Trees nor clouds nor a lot of other threads , given in particular . I first came to Thailand to find a Wife ! Mission Accomplished , Never more Happy . I don't want to spill my heart to everyone , I just want to say ... things do progress. I see you guys as comfort , sorry if that offends or it is uncomfortable for you to digest. I see effort , I see heart in every Photo , I see competition , I see a " hope you like this " , in every post , every photo . Be it a Cloud or a Snail spawn , be it a tree or a dodgy old Pickup , I love it all. Thank you all , so very much ! Thank you .
