I just won a ipod nano 2GB.

there are millions of infos on the internet, but I don't get the basics.

Can it just play any mp3 and vorbis ogg files or is there any DRM?

I am not interested in buy songs online.

You need to download the Itunes player, it will convert your music files to AAC which you can then load onto your Nano.

Good going! How'd you do that?

What, the Ipod Nano can't play bog-standard mp3 files?

Nope, plays it's own format which is how you can get so many songs onto the thing. But the software will convert any mp3 files you have to the format, as well as converting any CDs you have to play on it.

Itunes is free to download.

conversion is required for oggs.

aac's you rip yourself have no drm, and have noticably better quality for a given bitrate.

if iTunes tries to convert your mp3s, just drag the files into your music directory within itunes.

thanks for all that info!

sbk: Long time I make bit torrent at www.torrentlech.org (for the moderator: this is of course not ilegal file sharing, this is only about file sharing of shareware, Linux and so on).

than the had a lotterie, and I thought I support them a little bit and I bought 3 units. I really did not think of wining something, just wanted to help them because I downloaded so many movi**, aaah I mean linux images....

Than Lotterie over, I did not get any informations. Just for fun I looked who win what and found myself.

contacted the respondsible person, got an answer in 5 min that they need an adress. Gave them the adress and now I am waiting (for the CIA????)

I gave them my adress in Austria (only my old grandmam lifes there), but I can pick it up from there or my mom sends it for me.
