I am wanting to do some track time as bira is in my backyard. Not interested in taking the z1k as i would kill me if i dumped it. So i was thinking if a NC30 went sliding at 100 who cares right? Ok so pros and cons? here are some of the ones i have been looking at on mocyc

The first and last one look like the better ones at first glance.
Any questions fire them my way as I said on the phone mate, i'll check my email out now :)

NC35 would be a better option, as I believe they have a 17inch rear, as opposed to the 18 on the NC30?

Or swap a cbr400 swing, shrug.

i have considered buying a cbr400 for sometime before buying my cbr250.

Actually even tried one good example which was quite fun.

But after talking with some thai friend riding bikes here for long time and some mechanics that can speak English, they said cons are much more that pros.

Constant repairs, costly parts - some needed to be imported - cooked and abused bikes which is hard to distinguish and dodgy plates.

But also they said, if you can find a good example, they are quite fun bike for track and street and can last long time with less repairs.

Besides i checked three bikes that time and both their chassis was damaged and repaired. Either welded again - you can understand that from color change near the new welds - , or bend again back to its original shape etc.

So, check the chassis if you want to buy one as one mech said to me, if the chassis of cbr400 is fine, the rest is not a problem. If the chassis has a smooth surface not grained, just pass that.

Good luck.

Karlos curious how you came to that conclusion? I spoke with the 3rd bike owner and he had all the right answers. Will call the others today.

Frame damage is my main concern along with low compression. Low compression is a diy job frame damage i am basically screwed.

that 2nd cbr sure is tempting ,shame I have 6 month stint back in uk starting in a couple of months, when I come back think I will be going for something like this.

That first cbr was a friend's bike.

It had a low speed slide when he owned it, but most bike have at some point in

their life. I’m also sure it was a 2004 model and he fitted the 05+ front end

to it after the slide…..(with exception on the 2nd bike) these links are approx 200,000k more than

yankee want's to pay, but i do understand that the 600RR would need less work

doing to it and he'll end up saving some money in the long run

@ Yankee, I think those two bikes look better because people with stock

fairings usually collect bike like this and spare no cash when it come to

maintenance, they do look like the better looked after bikes, but i'm only

looking at pictures and this is Thailand after all... smile.png

P.S. Having a bike that's plated isn't a requirement if yankee has a trailer to transport the bike to a track :)

Now I am envious. I almost bought an NC30 when I got my ER6n.

The 1st one looks pretty sweet. That would be an ace track bike for sure! I think I would be bummed dumping the Kawi1000 you bought. Especially with the stock tires on it.

Good luck let us know what you scooped up!

You might want to also check with floridaguy

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/user/65746-floridaguy/

I turned him onto this one that I had considered but could not

travel to check it out.

He bought it & was considering selling his other one which he posted before here

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/554287-honda-vfr400rr-nc30-project-bike/?hl=+nc30

( Dont look at the red one that karlos owned in post 3 of that thread........will make all others look weak )

Dont know if floridaguy did sell the black one or not but may be worth a check.

Maybe he will see this post & chime in

Great choice- it's will fit you really well, and it's as reliable as a hammer.

You're gonna care if it goes sliding at 100, though.;)

Yes i will care but not about the bike.....

Oh, you'll care about your @ss first, but the bike will be a strong secondary concern (third will be your leathers)- it looks too nice to not care about.:) Edited by RubberSideDown

Bira has been sold and there will be no access in 2014.......... what will you do with the bike then ?

Is this confirmed?

I can go to a different track, i can just ride it or i can sell it? not sure why that would be a issue

After lookin at a few i decided a nc30 is not a good idea and a big headache. Everyone needed a minimum of 30k baht plus. Parts seem hard if not impossible to get. Reliability seems to be a big issue. So here is my new ride.

That is great yankee.

Wise choice man congrats.

Some maintenance some mods, that is it.

And It looks superb!

I will go from the same way but maybe a 2007 or up cbr600 or maybe a zx6r.

And dont worry about bira. There are three others within 200 km radius of where you live and they are building an f1 track in buri ram 400 km away!

Has a plate and book BUT i have not seen the book....Paid 150k the shop was asking 220k the owner [falang was asking 175].

It needs some work to start it needs a regulator. I checked but not looking good for availability in thailand...
