As a matter of course I keep my NoteBook updated with the latest MS Security downloads. The $NtUninstallKBxxxxx$ directory now contains some 547MB of compressed files and the $hf-mig$ has 134MB dating back to December 2004. The total represents some 8% of my free disk space.

Is there a time where I can start deleting some of the older updates and uninstall folders? In doing so will the Update Scanner tell the download center that the update is not present on my machine?

Thank you in advance.

If you delete those, you just won't be able to uninstall the updates, but they'll still be present and recognized on your system. So, erase away!
