I think any rice imported from outside would end up under the rice pledging scheme. I read just five minutes ago that police have seized a truck with 30 tons of smuggled rice from Cambodia. I wonder why many people complain now - and before this news was published the majority never cared about how the rice was planted/treated or stored... Shouldn't it be grown on land that has been synthetic fertiliser and pesticide free for 5 years? It is incredibly difficult to produce food in Thailand using only natural pesticides.
