Cabinet approves tollway fee exemption for Songkran Festival

The Cabinet has agreed to allow free toll passage for certain tollway during the Songkran Festival in order to reduce traffic buildup.

Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee (์สุรพงษ์ สืบวงศ์ลี), the Spokesman to the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the cabinet has agreed upon a fee exemption for the number 7 motorway between Bangkok and Chonburi (Pattaya Motorway), and the number 9 motorway of the Outer rings road between Bangkok and Bangpa-in. This was to alleviate traffic and conserve energy during the Songkran festivals. Changes will take effect from 4 PM of April 11th, to 12 AM of April 17th.

The spokesman added that the cabinet has approved holidays for government officials and state employees from April 13th to April 16th for the Songkran celebrations, and April 19th for the senatorial election.
