CMKiwi
Yawn.... It might be better to actually say what the attachment is about then you may get people who are interested giving feedback. Or is this just a marketing ploy to get all curious people to open the attachment? Possibly a good idea but not for me. Call me cynical but nothing in life is free, and meetings/gatherings of people who may have good ideas is never cheap. Who's on the make with this? KRS1
TedX is an excellent event. Forward thinking by alternative minds. Not for narrow minded people.

Bar camp : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp Anybody can propose the idea they want to talk about , primarily focused around technology and the Web. TEDx : http://www.ted.com/tedx All speakers are invited, TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan "ideas worth spreading".
CMKiwi
Ok ok, thanks for the links and an explanation of what TED is all about. A group of talkers and performers whom raise ideas about Technology, Entertainment and Design. Nothing wrong with that. And it seems like this organisation is bigger than Ben Hur. Very big global community. I like being educated and learning new things, so with that I can now go home and rest!
highonthai
Watch some "Ted Talks" on You tube or Netflix. Some very interesting subjects,Some not so, depending on your interest. I'd be interested, but I'd like to know the topics and speakers before I'd buy a ticket here in CM. Or, I could just go to the bar and have any number of Tom, Dick or Harry's (Drunk Talks) talk to me about the universe, internet tech or the future.... Serious though, Ted Talks are very interesting for the most part. As for Ted= X not so sure if they get the caliber of speakers that TED does. But I might give it a go. Maybe Art Bell will show up. Greenside
The confirmed speakers are listed in the first of the two press releases linked in the OP. Ticket prices here http://www.amiando.c...xchiangmai.html as posted above. This is exactly the kind of event that makes Chiang Mai a great place to live

Confirmed speakers include Khun Duangrit Bunnag, Architect; Mr. Boaz Zipper, Poet and Photographer; Amarit Charoenphan, Co-Founder of Hubba Coworking Space; Gordon Falconer, Director IBSG Smart Cities Solutions, CISCO; Dr. Thammarat Kottatep, AIT Researcher; Krating Poonpol, Founder of Disrupt University; Dr. Sirikul Nui Laukaikul, Brand Consultant; Khun Somluk Pantipun, Artist and Designer; Dr. Thomas Tilley, Lecturer at Payap University, Sali Sasaki, Editor at CRAFTED, Designer, Writer, Researcher at Cities x Design; Dr. Surat Tanprawate, Neurologist at Chiang Mai University; Supawut Boonmahathanakorn; Co-founder of Kon Jai Baan, Ruttikorn Vuttikorn, Product Designer and Educational Game Maker; Khun Wiriyah Ruechaipanit, CEO Eduzones; Tasana Nagavajara, Violinist; and Patipat Susumpow, Co-founder of Opendream. Several of these speakers are from Chiang Mai, but a special feature of TEDxChiangMai is that one session is dedicated to the future of education and will also include 3-5 talks by school and university students from Chiang Mai - giving them an opportunity to share their ideas with a local and a global audience. Selected through several local auditions, the names of the students will be announced later in August.
northernjohn
Hello all I am new to this forum. I have been living in Chiang Mai for three years now. I call Chiang Mai home now. As I browsed through some of the links they took me back to the 80s and 90s when I had a stack of self help books. All good and mind altering but I found them with the exception of Men are from Mars and Women from Venus and another I can not remember the name of to be fairly impractical for me. Now I realize this TEDx is on a larger scale but it strikes me as impractical to do any thing to try to attract more people and industry to the city until they can do some thing about the traffic and the smoke season. I have noticed in the three years I have been here more vehicles on the road and more tourists. With nothing being done to stop the rice paddy burning and trash burning.
