Three-year-old boy killed in slum fire

BANGKOK: -- A three year old locked up in his house alone by his father who went out to fish was burnt to dead in a fire which engulfed eight slum houses in a Bangkok slum early Songkran Day Thursday.

Police said the charred body of the boy, Angkarn Ruangdej, was founded in one of the eight houses after fire fighters controlled the blaze at a slum next to Rama VI Bridge on Pracharat 1 Road in Bang Sue district.

Police said the fire broke out at about 4 am.

Five fire engines were rushed to the scene and took about 20 minutes to control the blaze.

The boy father, Rung Ruangdej, told police that he left his house at 3 am to catch fish for foods and locked the boy inside the house all alone.
