Five terrorist suspects arrested

NARATHIWAT: -- Five Muslim terrorist suspects were arrested in this southern border province Friday morning after 150 policemen fanned out to search a village in Joh Irong district.

The five were charged with planting a bomb to ambush the Joh Irong police chief late last month.

The 150 policemen were divided into 15 teams were deployed to check Ban Tapase Village in Tambon Bukit at 6:00 am Friday.

Police said the five had set up system to alert among themselves about possible police raid.

They were arrested under the state of emergency law and they were taken to the Inkhayuth military camp in Pattani's Nongchik district.

I hope they got the right guys.

Probably not. Under the emergency law anybody can be arrested, without a lawyer or even be charged with anything. The current administration must do away with this law and come up with something more humane. Eventhough I'm non muslim, I'll be very worried for my safety and freedom under this law.
