End of NonImm-O visa (marriage), need 7/8 more days.

Featured Replies

My Non Imm-O visa ends on Oct 3.

Last 2 years I have returned to UK to visit elderly Mom and get new Non Imm-O visa in UK.

This year will be doing the same, but will be taking daughter who does not finish school until Oct 9, so I want to fly out on the 10th.

I presume I can get 15 days by doing a border run.

My questions are.

1. Do i need to leave Thailand on Oct 3 and return Oct 4 so my previous Non Imm-O is finished before re-entry or can I go before Oct 3 (say Oct 1) and still get 15 days?
2. Is the 15 days stamp a mere formality or could I have problems with 2 back to back Non Imm-O followed by a 15 day stamp.
3. Presume I will need proof of onward travel. Will a computer print-out of an e-ticket be OK for this.

Given my situation is there anything else I should be aware of that may turn what I hope will be a simple border run into something more problematic.

Also believe a 7 day extension may be possible at immigration. Believe this might be cheaper, but suspect more complicated. What would be required to extend by 7 (or bit more if possible) days at immigration.

Thanks in advance

I presume you are married to a Thai National.
You can get 60 day extension to visit your wife.

From Police order 777/2551

2.24 In the case of an alien visiting a Thai spouse or child:
Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time.
(1) Proof of relationship.
(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de jure (legitimate) and de facto.

If you have a multi-entry visa exiting the country prior to the visas expiry date and immediately returning should secure another 90 day permission to stay which would more than cover your needs !

But ! I am no expert in these matters ----one such should appear soon !smile.png

You are correct.

Sorry I should have added to my Non Imm-O (married to Thai wife) is already finished and the Oct 3 stamp is due to getting the final 90 days added on just before expiry, that is Oct 3 will be the end of the 12 Months + additional 90 days and therefore can no longer be extended by 90 days.

Then PoorSucker's solution is the one for you !smile.png

Hi jrtmedic & poorsucker, are you saying that I would not be able to get the 15 days by doing a border run and poorsuckers is the only solution? Or is it that poorsuckers suggestion will be the easiest, if so how would I go about doing that? I am very familiar with the (90 days) border runs and so think I would prefer that method, unless poorsuckers is the only way or much more simple. Thanks.

If you prefer the border run option I see no reason for not undertaking the trip !smile.png

You can either make a border crossing for 15 day visa exempt entry or extend at immigration for 60 days (but both would have to attend immigration and marriage certificate/ID card/Home register. You can do this any day as your current stay will end when you exit Thailand.

OK, thanks LopBuri.

Not as simple as I had hoped, hoping it would be the same as when i do a 90 day border run, out of thailand, back in, stamp, 90 days thank you.

Will make sure i take all me paperwork, cheers.

For the border run just your passport and photo as normal - my other documents were to obtain extension of stay from immigration.

I think you misread Lop's post. I had to look twice.

You can make border run alone it is the same as 90 day runs.

Thanks, thats good news then. Yes read the 'both' as meaning both options now re-reading I get what you mean. So a simple no complications border run then, good. Will I need proof of onward travel and if so will a computer print-out of e-ticket be OK.

For border crossing no ticket needed.
