Good news:

Visa was granted for 3 months, single entry as requested.

Obviously the usual conditions apply - no work, can't study for more than 3 months.

It seems that her application was quite strong on the basis of her documents, rather than needing mine. Even so, for future applications I will be providing her with more documents than just an invitation letter, but this time we got what we wanted.

It will be my fiance's first visa to Australia. Having lived in America for 5 years, been to Canada twice as a tourist during her time studying and working in the States, travelled twice to China (Kunming) and once each to Laos and Vietnam in the past year surely helped as well, I think.

Congrats

It sounded like you submitted a really strong application from what you wrote.

Don't forget the first visa is the hardest and they're pretty much a piece of cake

after the first one.

BTW, it sounds like Bpuumike had a real good CO. Quite often, if there's not enough info

provided, the application is just refused.

Uness I'm mistaken, that letter is from your case officer and not VFS?

AFAIK, It's not "standard" practice to get an email from VFS or a case officer

advising of a visa grant.

Your case was somewhat different as you were in constant contact with your CO.

It won't apply to the majority of applications.

Yes the CO originally contacted me for further info. He did not quote the VSF reference number, her name only.

It was a good outcome as I was able to give him more info rather than receiving a flat refusal.

I don't know why my case would have been different to any other unless because I'm a Pom as sponsor as opposed to an Oz national.

It was different because you were in constant contact with the CO, who ended up emailing you the result.

You said "If the visa is approved you/GF will receive an email to say so and come in to collect it".

Like I said, this normally isn't the case. You usually just get an email from VFS saying come and pick up your answer.

This is what the OP was asking and because you said you receive an email saying the visa has been granted, he probably

got worried. I think that's why David48 asked to see the email, because it's really the norm. And definitely not from VFS.

Will

Will,

OK, I follow your thinking.

I was speaking from my one and only experience which I thought was the norm.

It will be interesting to see how it's handled next time but as my gf has already been there and returned on time, plus we will have had a longer relationship then hopefully it should go through without any queries.

Anyway, the OP has just reported a positive result so good news.

Regards,

Mike

I agree. It got to the stage with us the partner visa took about 2 weeks to get issued.

Congrats op! Kangaroos and BBQs for her. Good stuff.
