RoboLB
OK, this might sound like an odd question, but here goes. I plan to retire to Bangkok with my Thai wife. We currently live in Sydney. We hope to retain a house in Sydney and move between both during retirement. We are in the process of buying a Condo in Bangkok. Now I know that a Farang cannot own land. But I can own a Condo I think. So, what do you think is best? Own the Condo jointly? Or just leave it in my wife's name. Are there any financial/legal advantages either way? We jointly own everything else, so I was heading down the track of joint ownership. Just makes it easier in case one of us gets run over by a bus! The other automatically owns it outright. cassde
I am from the UK and have just bought a condo with my Thai girlfriend, shortly to be my wife. We bought it and registered the chanote in joint names, but when it came to getting the property registered at the District Office, my gf got the 'blue book' and I got a 'yellow book' - Tabien Baan. Apparently they do not accept joint names for a 'blue book'.
