Qatar's new airport opening soon ?

Just transited Abu Dhabi for the first time. What a horrible airport.

Agree on that.

As for Doha, don't hold your breath.

Jordan is pretty bad too. Stick with transits in Dubai if possible.

I'll stick with Muscat if you don't mind.

Dubai for me is the worst of them all.

I note in the article they are very non-specific. 'Soon', could be next week, next month or next year.

I'll be transiting Doha in January - it would be nice if it's open, but I have my doubts.

I'm just back from a job in Qatar. The airport is a mess due to the ongoing construction. Long, long bus rides to switch between terminals and the new airport seems to need a year more, or what ever they think what is "soon". Parking and traffic arround the new and old airport is a mess as well...

Haven't been through Muscat for 12 years or so. Maybe give it a try.

Oman has always been my favourite Gulf country.

It's not a secret that Oman Air is my favourite airline (see my and other trip reports in the pinned topic).

Seeb Airport is small, very clean easy to navigate and above all friendly staff which is a rarity in the other Gulf states.

Just my humble opinion.

You've got me going now. What are the layover times like (to London)?

Don't know about London, but for my usual destinations i.e. Paris CDG or Frankfurt it's 2 to 3 hours

Cheers

Thanks, I'll check it out for my next UK trip.

It's going to be a while before the new Doha airport is open.
