webfact
ATTA says protest not yet affect tourism BANGKOK: -- The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) says the current anti-government protest has not yet had a clear negative impact on tourism sector.Association president Anek Srichivachart , also president of Thai-Japanese Tourism Promotion Association, said so far there was no cancellation of hotel reservations since the outbreak of the political turmoil while the number of tourist arrivals also is increasing till the end of the year which is the country’s high season for tourism. But he said that although there was no cancellation, but some oversea travel agents said their customer were monitoring the situation in Thailand closely and watching whether it would be developed to violence. Therefore, he said, abrupt cancellation of reservations did not yet happen yet. However he said for tourists who are still hesitated to travel to Thailand during the period of December and January next year and have not yet placed bookings, they would rather adopt a wait-and-see on the development of the situation. At the same time, prominent economist Ammar Siamwalka said that the political protest rally is not a cause of the current economic slowdown. In fact the slowdown was caused by the government’s poor implementation of some projects. He also believed that the anti-government protests would not turn to violence as protesters remained peaceful and very polite, but just “noisy” that even a deaf and quite hard of hearing government has to retreat. siampolee
Do these characters who make these pronouncements actually realize the people normally book their holidays 6 to 8 months in advance and if it a reservation the balance has to be paid to the travel agent normally 1 month prior to departure.date thus there will be no cancellations shown as those purchased holiday, tours etc cannot be cancelled. No doubt the A.T.T.A. are building up to plead for ''government assistance due to falling revenues.'' . Christmas is coming Thaksins P.T.P are still getting fat Please put some of your million's into our hat if you haven't got millions Please pass the 2 trillion loan bill We'll expect our handout from that in our hat
