Central Festival lights area’s tallest Christmas tree

PATTAYA:--Central Festival Pattaya Beach lit the tallest Christmas tree in the region to welcome the holiday and bid farewell to 2013.

Pattaya City Councilman Rattanachai Sutidechanai, Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya Director Auttaphol Wannakij, and police Superintendent Col. Suwan Chiewnawinthawat lit the 25-meter-tall tree with Central Pattana General Manager Theeraporn Jitnawa and other community leaders Nov. 27.

The mall’s “Joy to the World” gift festival offers surprises and special activities during the month, as well as visits with Santa Claus and holiday lights.

One of the things I liked about Thailand was the lack of Jesus freaks and the commercialization surrounding holidays...at least the former still pretty much holds.
