A photo featuring Their Majesties the King and the Queen during a visit to an injured soldier has been voted the most-loved piece in a photo campaign.

The campaign is a part of the celebrations to mark the 60th Anniversary of HM the King's Accession to the Throne. People have sent more than 175,000 SMS between May 11 and May 14 to vote for their favourite one from six photos, all of them capturing the memorable moments of His Majesty with his subjects.

The SMS senders in this campaign were not charged for SMS services.

"The winning photo earns 27,673 votes," Government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee said Monday.

The winning photo, sent by Lieutenant Colonel Boonlue Phromtus, was taken in 1967. Boonlue said he was the injured staff sergeant on a patient bed in the photo and felt overwhelmingly grateful to receive Their Majesties' visit.

"The visit greatly boosted the morale of soldiers and border policemen," Boonlue's illustration said.

The first runner-up photo features His Majesty as he knelt down to tie his shoelaces during his visit to Sakon Nakhon in 1990. This photo receives 24,014 votes.
