Gweiloman
One really has to laugh. In what other country would an anti - govt protest meant at overthrowing the government then break into pop songs and dance like what is happening now in Asoke?

PREM-R
You could well find it's called the Stand Alone Republic of Chiang Mai by then. All the other N and NE provinces are jumping ship "All the other N and NE provinces are jumping ship" Not in Khon Kaen, was up there at around 2.00 PM and there was a huge march through the center of the city, many banners (in English) "Respect My Vote". So no, all the other provinces are NOT jumping ship.

techboy
Let the passive aggressive festivities begin. Those with enough sense to stay above the fray, remain safe and good luck. Those idiots in the midst of the fray, no sympathy. Act like passive aggressive fools, don't complain when you get treated like a passive aggressive fool looking for a fight. "Passive aggressive." I like that. It should not make sense but it does.

DocN
I said it in 2010 and I say it again today: in a "democracy" (no matter how loosely we use this term when it comes to Thailand), you are allowed to protest! I am even going a step further: if you protest, you may even disrupt everyday life. Because...let's be honest...what good is a protest in an empty rice- field outside of Bangkok? So: as long as you don't destroy public or private property and you only dirupt every day life (but still let people get to work etc.)- fine with me! I am not criticizing the people demonstrating, I am not even saying, I don;t believe (most of them) to have honorable motives. It is the leader(s) of this protests and his (their) motives, means and ways that I criticize.

speedtripler
lets see how many suppoters are left after 5+ days of blocking roads As soon as they realise theyre not getting paid for this shit and will have no salary next month most of them will probably go back to work.....lol Protesting doesnt pay the rent or put food on the tables so it will fizzle out without any government action sooner or later

In what other country would an anti - govt protest meant at overthrowing the government then break into pop songs and dance like what is happening now in Asoke? Yeah, that's so crazy. Out front of a bank near Ploenchit BTS a small group of protesters were being entertained by what seemed katoeys on stage. I couldn't contain the laughter when the burst into the number one protest song. Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive. Go on now, go walk out the door Just turn around now 'Cause you're not welcome anymore Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye Do you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die?Oh no, not I. I will survive Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give and I'll survive I will survive,

When it came to the part where usually the crowd will also sing / shout FINAL COUNTDOWN, only a very small percentage of the crowd actually sang it. My conclusion is that the majority of them didn't actually know the song (I guess songs like these are not exactly hit singles from where a lot of the protesters seem to have come from - down south). Whilst walking around various places today, I think many of the new (semi-permanent) protesters are indeed from the South. Many were enjoying themselves riding on the trains at lunchtime, taking photos of their friends (usually in front of location signs). However, quite a few seemed a bit bewildered, if not lost. Not surprised ... the PDRC leader in charge of managing the Rajprasong protest site is a Dr Seree Wong-something, one of BKK's best-known effeminate** man. **as in voice and mannerisms. Unfortunately he still looks very much like a man.
