South Korea has announced that it will be investing KRW1.6 trillion – around £897 million –

in the development of fifth generation (5G) super fast wireless connectivity by the end of the decade.

It is thought the next generation of the mobile telecommunication technology will be 1,000 times faster than 4G,

with the South Korean government planning to make it commercially available by 2020.

Not sure when LOS will catch up, but the UK does have plans

there is little use of the 1000x speed, when all the 3G packages seem to have unlimited net with 3-4-5GB limits....

but yes, all country reliable 3G is still a dream, so, no point even to talk about 4G or 5G here.

Not much content in that article. It basically just says they think it will be faster and hope to have something to show off at the Olympics.

Much more info about 5G here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G 5G is just a bunch of ideas at this point.

I think the topic is kind of silly anyways. They are still improving 4G. The telcos don't want to upgrade the backhaul, so mobile speed doesn't really matter anyways :(
