Quick question...Non-Immigrant O Multiple Entry.

Featured Replies

Does this visa expire on the "enter before" date, or is it 12 months from date of first use?

My case specifically: Date of Issue: 4 March 2013

Enter Before: 3 March 2014

I arrived first time on 10 June 2013. Basically, I need to know if I will have to enter for the last time on 2nd March, or 9th June?

Cheers, thanks for any help

It's the 'enter before' date.

The visa becomes valid the day it's issued, not when it's first used.

Actually your visa expires on 3 March 2014 at midnight.

You had a one year multi entry visa (or so I take it).

So actually if you enter before midnight on Mach 3 2014 you will get a 90 day "permitted to stay" stamp in your passport which will let you stay for 90 days from that day.

Even though your visa expires on that "Enter Before" date your "permitted to stay stamp" will allow you to stay legally in Thailand until the date stamped there in your "permitted to stay" stamp you get on entry.

Yes ... the advice above is correct ... as I found out to my detriment.

I bought a duel entry Non Imm O Visa ... used the first entry.

Rocked up to Swampy thinking to use my second entry ... wrong!

I was 3 days past the 'Enter Before' date.

My Bad for not confirming.

Their Bad English.

Do you have a 'Non Imm O Visa' ?

There is nothing wrong with the language used on the visa, which makes it very clear until what date the visa is valid for travel to Thailand. There is nothing at all on the visa that could possibly give rise to the misunderstanding that the multiple-entry visa would be valid for 12 months from the date of the first entry.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I have, and "enter before" is perfectly clear to me - and any other native speaker I would have thought.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but I've had single and multi-entry "B" Visas as well as Tourist and visa exempt entries. Each time, I understood when to enter and leave.

Well Gentlemen, on this we will have to disagree.

My duel entry, Non-Immigrant Visa simply says ... 'Enter Before'

And, the English, taken literally ... I entered before.

Where's a better written Tourist Visa I have says ... 'this visa is to be Utilised Before'

If you have read my past posts ... I'm happy to admit if I make a mistake.

But, for me, the English on the Non-Immigrant Visa is not definitive, and I would contend, a little clumsy.

I have a fair grasp of the English Language, so no need to make a negative comment there..

Thanks for the replies, folks. I just had it in my head for some reason that I had a year once I arrived. I guess they can't make it any clearer than "Enter Before" facepalm.gif

I read 'Enter Before' as an instruction, does not equate, for me, to I entered before..

'this visa is to be Utilised Before

By the same method it could be read as 'I utilised before' , also 'utilise' is not such a common word (some would even say that it was spelt wrongly.

So we disagree, no probs.

But it's called a multi-entry visa so that, taken with the words "enter before" are clear enough in my mind. As you have to leave each time in order to enter the country again, you can't possibly think that they are referring to your first entry?

So you have a fair grasp of English, but you don't understand the meaning of 'Enter Before' or 'Double Entry'.

By the way, claiming to have a fair grasp of the English language at the same time as repeatedly typing "duel entry" isn't helping your cause. Did you have any problems getting your Flintlock pistols through customs when you arrived?

"If you have read my past posts ... I'm happy to admit if I make a mistake."

You've posted over 10,000 times. obviously you have a lot to say. I'm not about to search for the post where you admitted to being wrong. I'm just waiting to see it here.

You've stated twice that you have a "duel entry visa". whether it's "duel" or "dual", there is no such thing. Neither is a synonym for "double."

Let's stop this war of words. it is off topic and further comments of this nature will be removed.
