Sure I, european, need visas to go to Laos and Vietnam. As I understand it I need entry visa to Laos, and return

visa, too, if I am coming back to Thailand via Laos. Seems to be no 'transit' or multiple entry visa on offer.

Vietnam more simple. Visa available

in Savannakhet at Vietnamese consulate. Need re-entry permit for Thailand. Thais seem able to go to Lao for 3 days

without visa.

Is that true if they, the Thais, are coming back from Vietnam? via Laos to Thailand, can simply transit Laos with

similar 3 day pass?The kids want to go to the seaside...closer where we are than Ko Chang/Lanta!!

Thais do not need visas for Vietnam or Laos.

Thais passport holders get 30 day visa exempt entries for Laos and Vietnam.

Without a passport Thais can use a border pass and get 3 days entry to Laos from Thailand.
