She "say"... he "say" and you are Australian ?

Your example : "she even say if family member still have to charge something"

Correct English "she also said that even if the massage is for a family member she still has to charge:"

Is grammar constructed differently in Australia ?

Or are you training in this stupid Tinglish language one hears so much here?

The pigeon English many ENGLISH SPEAKING people use even when speaking to fluent English speaking people.

Supposedly its to make Thais understand but it only makes their grammar worse................ plus it pi**es off English speaking people who wonder "why are you speaking to me like that when I can understand perfect grammatically spoken English"

I suspect OP just accidently slipped into the vernacular with which his wife speaks.

But (and this is tongue in cheek)if you are going to be the Grammar Nazi then get it right.

Pidgin, not pigeon English.

It's, not its.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about us doing Thais no favours by speaking this Tinglish crap.

We can simplify the language, slow down, and speak clearly with proper grammar and help them out so much more.

I found it frustrating to communicate in broken english,

but once we get a sense of how they are using english, we can then insert the proper adjectives to help them learn to speak in phrases, then small sentences,

we have no choice if we want to make sure they understand us

that was my experience,

then slowly words I used over and over, she would either hear on a movie w thai subtitles and tie it together,

or just ask me, when it struck home

OKay...for all of you farang here talking bad about all thai women I have a few things to point out to you.

1. If that is all you know of thai women then obviously you are partaking in the lifestyle.

2. Who's the real bad guy, the master or the slave? If the money wasn't being spent on it by so many farang it wouldn't exist because it would not be so profitable.

3. You are in Thailand, Thailand isn't in you so respect the culture, especially if you are going to live and/or have a thai wife. If you want to meet a good women you stop using the internet and bars to find it. Then you may see the real beauty of Thai culture.

BTW, I am a farang from the US. My girl is so beautiful, loving, and kind. She does just as much for me as I do for her. She is a school teacher from a very wealthy family and the furthest thing from the description of thai women being portrayed in this thread. You should be ashamed of yourselves and if you really feel this way then go. Stop being an alcoholic hanging out in the bars every week. If you meet a women there, rest assured, the relationship is about money and to take care of her family. Most of those girls have to do it because it is the only way to earn good money for your family without an education. Most of the girls are from Isaan because the education is lacking so much there. Many of them never even get the chance to go to school. They have to trade their honor and body to save their family so try to show a little more respect and sympathy for their situation too.

You didn't get the point, it's not about complaining about thai women... the word "thai" is not necessary in fact ^^

I think you are all missing my point. This is my home and I started with nothing when I got here. I speak thai, have lived all over the country, am Buddhist, and I know what goes on here. I have friends that are baar girls, Scarpolo, so i am speaking on their behalf...not down to them. Have you ever bought shoes for a 100 kids in Isaan and fed the school and seen the conditions in some of the villages? NO? I have! Like I said, i am sick of the farang who come to Thailand for subversive reasons and then complain about it...go home!!!

Her family is very wealthy yet she chose a lowly paid position as a teacher..............

I always have a chuckle reading the 'doom and gloom' reply posts from the unhappy campers here in LoS.

OP, it is a superstition and probably, like many people in Asia I have had the pleasure to know, she takes this nonsense very seriously.

There is no monetary gains intended from you just a superstition that needs accepting and the amount you give her is of no consequence, 20 baht will do as a note is more lucky than a coin.

This trait is practised in many countries, I came across it many times in my years spent in China.

A superstition, nothing more, nothing less!

OP could give her some hell money (joss paper)...

I did see some of that, plenty in fact, mostly in the north.

one of the worst, was near the Singha park, and many near Temples.

you are preaching too

Its an acceptable superstition - just like no 13th floor in a hotel. My wife used to charge me but now uses me as a guinea pig for her trainees - great idea, but also to learn her own new walking on body with the side of an ankle technique - bad idea. $ 60 in Oz has been the same fee for a professional massage for years

Kwaussie dont mind the trolls its a good profession and like some say its just superstition and giving her a symbolic amount is like blessing her for doing a good job and for the respect of the teachers something like that. If you make her happy and she feel safe with you doing all this for her you'll get it back in other ways. I do agree it might be weird as she is your gf...but if you ask for the massage you keep her working but if she spontaneously start without you asking or if she offers then paying for it would be weird in my opinion. Is not like the money is leaving the household anyways!! ;)

Trans Am...your English sentences don't make sense so I have no idea what you are saying...btw, I don't drive a nice car. I am just saying I care about the people and understand their strife. I have several degrees: sociology, poli sci-international relations, and geo-engineering. I understand these sociological problems and what causes them. The customers enable this situation just like someone who buys a drink for an alcoholic...enabling.

Spoonman, She loves kids and chose to be a child development specialistto help the children in her country. Obviously, she chose to pursue goodness rather than money. But since you are so worried about it I will tell you she just got her masters and her parents just built a school for us to open. Our projected net income is quite high because we both have built reputations in the area and the capacity of the school. We are already 75% full and the doors haven't even opened yet.

You guys are such Dumb A**** that just want to b**** at anything you see.

Scarpolo, you know, thank you for any work you do. I made my post after reading yours at the beginning sticking up for thai culture and women. I was paraphrasing what you said at the beginning of this thread but, I guess since it didn't come from you, you wanted to be a jerk about it. But read my post and your post at the beginning. Arguing with me because we have the same opinion? You just thought I was wealthy and spoiled. Dude, you have no idea what I have been through and seen brother.

It again amazes me how you farangs know very little. You, as the husband, can find a woman 1/2 the age of your wife tonight. She knows that. She need to accumulate some money before you leaver her - and you will around 5-7 years. She does not want to be left with nothing.

What if his wife is 25 yo, are u saying he is a nonce?????

A lot of people are tired of the farangs that brag about their super wealthy wifes that never have been in a bar.....so go home and brag.

It means that you have a wife but not a real relationship. facepalm.gif

Go ahead and pay her but give her a rent bill for living in your home, and dont share your food with her.

Wife? It has not been specified that she is a wife. "We have been together for four years.."

Under no circumstances this can be acceptable. Only when two lovers in bed joking with each other this can be said. You will have to ask her to explain more what her teacher had told her. She may be, after all, a naive person who may have misunderstood what was said. This you have to ascertain.

I put no thought into your statement, and didnt notice a similiar frame to the commentary,

I also didnt insult you

but you were indeed preaching,

and, I lived with a thai massage girl, and she was mediocre as a massagist, and, not so great as a lover, and she is a professional lover

the more I think about it, I think I met a Thai Jap

It's just superstition, like giving a wallet without money in it. Don't mind it, jut give her a baht for luck. She starts charging 300 an hour then you got a problem.

Oz

sounds like she is reverting to her "past" occupation! why on earth would you pay for your wife to learn to massage?

Because she has never massaged before as spent 16 years in fish factory and can earn twice as much as me in Oz, especially with qualification certificates
