PATTAYA:--On Tuesday afternoon a Director of Medicine from a Hospital in Sattahip District was involved in a boating accident off the coast of Pattaya and was lucky to escape alive after the boat he was on sunk.

The incident occurred just after 2pm on Tuesday approximately 4kms off the coast of Pattaya as a speedboat, named “Song Pi Nong” which was carrying Khun Ramet aged 50, to Larn Island, struck a high wave at-speed and began to take on water.
Luckily a second speedboat, “Nong Jane 7” came to the rescue and recovered Khun Ramet and others on board the stricken vessel before it went under the water.

Striking a large wave in a poorly built Thai boat at high speed is not an accident, but rather

an act of stupidity.... Just like driving a car, speed on the water should be a function of

existing sea conditions.

Near death experience...

Presume like crash helmets for motor bikes Thai's do not bother with life vests for boats either.
