CAPO affirms Chalerm will remain as director

Well it makes sense that the only position related to illegal transfer would be his deputy PM job only. As a labor minister he cant really cause s lot of problems. However to remain as CAPO director I would think this position is or can be decided by the new caretaker PM. Given Chalerms lack of doing anything except intimidating the courts I would think it would be easy to show that he is not doing his job in CAPO. He has never shown that he treats both parties equally and is biased to the PTP. He has yet to capture or arrest any prominent PDRC leader and every warrant and seizure of property has been rejected by the courts. Surely he has shown enough incompetence for the new PM to justify replacing him. I don't believe that will happen though because the new caretaker PM answers to the PTP same as YL did.

I always wondered why the government had so many reshuffle. It's to build alibi for all the criminal acts. But if Chalerm things, he is going to stay in any position of power, he is dead wrong. No one wants a person guilty of a crime to be in office serving the public. He should leave and fight his case and once he win, then we can consider him back again. But now, he is spoiled meat.

CAPO insists Chalerm and Surapong still cabinet ministers

5-8-2014-9-44-42-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order issued a statement on Thursday insisting that Surapong Tovichakchaikul and Chalerm Yubamrung are still deputy prime minister and labour minister simultaneously.

The statement said that CAPO is a special unit set up by virtue of the Internal Security Act and, therefore, the Constitutional Court’s ruling does not affect the operations of CAPO.

In the statement, CAPO said that the court’s ruling did not affect Chalerm’s ministerial status as the labour minister because Chalerm was deputy prime minister when he joined then prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and eight other ministers in endorsing Mr Thawil Pliensri’s transfer from the National Security Council.

Also, CAPO said Surapong was then foreign minister when he was involved in the transfer of Thawil and, therefore, he still retains his status as deputy prime minister.

CAPO said it did not intend to put pressure or to interfere with the court’s judgement but merely wanted to prevent and rectify unrest situation. It also insisted that the court’s ruling would lead to more violent conflict.

This is one of the main reason why politicians in Thailand keep continuing to commit Maleficence

again and again, even being dismissed for wrong doing from one government body they being

hired by another.. so what's the incentive there to do good? none...

Just shows that these 2 cack-handed prats won't get their twitching snouts out of the trough and are desperate to cling onto power to become richer to lead the poorer.

Game's over, you low lifes.

The Courts gave them an "out" (by not pursuing the rest of the MP's) and a way to keep functioning, and PT are proudly showing their middle fingers back to the Courts. Now the Courts will dissolve PT and impeach the ex-MP's. Wait and see.

And we'll hear:

but but Suthep and Abhisit......

corrupt Ammart kick out the peoples government....

coup appointed court stages a juristic coup....

they may want to be the victim for propaganda reasons...

How is it possible that ministers who have been ousted by the highest court of the country are still in place???!!! INCREDIBLE!

THIS is over my understanding!

How is it POSSIBLE that the people in charge of applying the law are letting them do???

I am for democracy but when I see what Thai politician do => I agree that THAILAND NEED REFORM BEFORE ELECTION!!!

This seams to me to be a direct challenge to the CC ruling. Cherlem no longer holds any political office as I understand it.

you're wrong - the attempted judicial coup only related to DPM not his other role of Labour Minister

Another reason why decisive, ruthless action is required to put an end to the shin dynasty and its hangers on, wipe them from the history books..

Or vote them out.

Still can't name those other pesky democratic principles heay?

Here is a reference from Taiwan (originally from the US department of State) where they attempt to layout the principles of Democracy. www.ait.org.tw/infousa/zhtw/DOCS/prinDemocracy/what.html

It's heavily biased towards the American system, however it is still useful.

I would be interested in any better summary or reference.

Very telling your list.

You claim the EC as supporters! But the law requires they be neutral, so you're confirming what we've been saying!

Likewise the courts, again same thing. Legally they're neutral and can only rule on issues not support politics.

We've been saying this all along, the independent agencies are appointed by the rigged Senate. Duh!

This group:

Thai Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trade, the Environmentalists, medical association, Supa, private banks, GSB, AoT, labor unions, Green Politics group, Thai Constitution Protection Association, Provincial Electricity Authority,

Lots of them are just front groups for you with a few people behind them, the Provincial Electricity Authority does not support you, they simply met you. GSB are not yours you had to try to have a run on that bank to influence it, AOT you hit up for a donation on threat of taking over their airport again, so no, they don't support you.

bangkok middle class, business owner, state enterprise staff, - I wonder how this group stacks up. I bet a vote would show majority PT now.

civil servants, - did not join your many demands for strikes and blocks on elections.

rural teachers, academics, - Ahhh, I remember the video as PDRC thugs tried to close schools, scared kids screaming. No.

global economists, IMF, World bank, Moody's,UNHCR, Human Rights Watch, the corn farmer, rubber farmers, rice farmers, - nope, you tried, you failed to fool them

the Thai press, - nope, they turned on you a long time ago.

military, - nope

Buddhist monks - nope (its the Buddhist law they stay out of politics BTW)

NIDA poll and Bangkok Poll - interesting, because I think Nida and Dusit are just marketing for your side, your side requires us believe their polls as real and independent, yet the numbers show they're fake. Here you've made the mistake of listing them as supporters!

Regime side - if that was true, how come 7 months in, you're a small mob living in the park and they're still the government in power. They took back the government building. You are in retreat down to Lumpini.

"You claim the EC as supporters! But the law requires they be neutral, so you're confirming what we've been saying!"

That was your very first sentence and you expect me to take you seriously for the rest of your post?

Supporters of what? I have claimed that the EC are supporters of democracy. I have not said they are not neutral. You put words in my mouth. It seems to be the only way you can attempt to win an argument.

No wonder the PTP and UDD can so easily manipulate their supporters. They cannot understand and extract the meanings from basic sentences.

Unfortunately I can not dumb my post down anymore mate.

And as with previous members. When you start your rebuttal by misinterpreting what I said and by putting words in my mouth then that is where I leave the conversation.

Probably a good thing for you too under the circumstances after reading the rest of your post.

Take care and please don't demonize me, don't be condescending, don't quote me out of context, don't change the subject and don't cherry pick”

The EC ran the 2011 election, they certified Yingluk as the winner. They already signed up for elections in 2014. So EC as supporters of democracy??? Yet you block elections? I think you could not block elections if the EC hadn't been so keen to try to help you block elections back in February.

I've also found that screaming school kids clip. The one where your PDRC guys tried to close a school and the teacher had to plead with your goons that the kids need to study.

Yet you claim support of rural teachers?

... and just how does blocking a school entrance stand up against the murder of young children by the Red Shirt terrorists...?! Try to find some real perspective will you?!

This analogy is amusing, but in musical chairs, there are more people than chairs to start.

With the "removal" of Yingluck and her 9 dwarfs, it would seem that there are now more seats than bums to fill them.

It also looks like Surapong has glued his arse to his seat as he's still convinced he's FM.

Hopefully one of two things will happen or both. Someone legally challenge the PTP claim that Yingluck retains the position of defense minister, Suraporn retains the position of DPM and Chalerm retains the position of CAPO Director.

The Constitutional Court will issue a statement verifying the same.

As a matter of fact, the Courts ruling did not have any effects on Mr Chalerm since his role as Deputy Prime Minister had already ended before the Cabinet ordered the transfer of the National Security Council chief which was deemed unlawful by the judges. Meanwhile, his Labor Minister post, which he assumed afterwards, is also unaffected.

So he was deputy PM off and minister of labor already when the cabinet voted, yet the court ruling applies to his role as deputy PM and not as the function he was in at that time. Interesting view at least.

Isn't the deciding factor if he voted for the removal of Thawil, regardless of the ministry he represented?

Let's not be sensible. They are doing their best to make it up as they are going along.

It's reported elsewhere ... http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/724750-thai-cabinet-divides-responsibilities-among-three-remaining-deputy-prime-ministers/

"Phongthep said he was also in charge of the Centre for Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) in place of former labour minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, who also oversaw the centre."

... that caretaker-DPM Pongthep was put in charge of CAPO, by a special Cabinet-meeting yesterday. rolleyes.gif

Wonder who's tasked, with breaking the sad news to former-Director Chalerm, or whether CAPO plan on ignoring the caretaker-Cabinet's decision ? whistling.gif

No doubt all will become clear, in time, who's really in-charge ? Or not.

That's right. Anybody on the cabinet that voted for this transfer is out. That's the way it was explained in both of the English-language bird-cage liners here at least.

I suppose as if he can still call himself Pol Capt Chalerm after having resigned after that unfortunate business years ago then why not call himself Director of CAPO too. He can be Lord of all the Booze he Surveys if he wants..... nobody cares anyway!

Indeed they are. I had a similar fake Wiki 'report' referred to by Dirtfarmer. It is always a good idea to check out the Wiki reports & links as they can be manipulated by those bent on misinformation like DF & BNC.

BNC above keeps shifting the goal posts - when he is found to be distorting what a poster has said, he ignores that & goes off on a tangent to deliver yet more propaganda.

CAPO is just confirming what a totally useless bunch of stooges they have been. No one has suggested that Chalerm & Surapong have been booted out of CAPO because of the CC findings but to suggest that they retain some ministerial position is just laughable.
