I was in a shop yesterday that sold 2nd hand goods and antiques. There was a pair of WW11 samurai swords (not very valuable....I looked up the mark stamped on them and they were mass produced for low ranking officers) for 4000bht (the pair), but what really caught my eye was what looked like a flintlock pistol, but turned out to be a spring-action pistol. Made of brass with a wood "handle". The handle was like the very old pistols that is basically a straight cylinder running at about 45 degrees from the barrel and rounded at the end....not the classic curved tip of grip. There was another "barrel" below the main one, with 2 "bores", but these held the projectiles in storage (which were long bullet-shaped steel, about 8cm long and 8mm diameter. There was a brass flap that slid up to keep the bullets in their holes.

The trigger action worked with a series of levers mounted on both sides. The spring inside the breech was compressed somehow....I didn't want to play with it too much.

An interesting piece that I'll photograph next time.

Any arms experts have any idea what I was looking at?

Would love to see a pic.

Watch this space. Next time I am in the area I will take my camera. I would like to have it identified as it is for sale for 7000....might be worth a fair bit more.

Buy the Samurai swords and sell them at a profit to BKK taxi drivers.

I know a bloke who dug up a sword at Kanchanburi. Had some Japanese inscription on it. He finished up selling it to a family in Japan, who a paid a small fortune for it.
