Southern insurgents sabotage two railway bridges in Narathiwat

BANGKOK: -- Two railway bridges in Narathiwat province were damaged by bombs late Tuesday night, forcing railway service to a halt.

Security officials said the first incident happened at the railway bridge in Banyoi Hurupare between Banlak and Ban Tanyongmad railway stations in Ra Ngae district.

The powerful bomb explosion brought down the bridge to the ground, thus disrupting train service completely.

The incident forced the State Railway of Thailand to suspend its southern rail service to Narathiwat with end destination to only at Hat Yai.

Combined force of police, soldiers and volunteers were inspecting the scene and were providing security for railway m workers to repair the bridge immediately.

Meanwhile another railway bridge at Ban Bukae inJor I-rong district was also damaged by bomb.

Army rangers from their 4816 and 4104 bases were rushing to the scene to inspect damages.

There was no report of injury but service to the route was suspended indefinitely.

perhaps the defense minister could get off her lard arse and go and show shes got her finger on the pulse .of this problem.....not going to happen...she enjoying herself in chang mai/..bless her..

There's a female defence minister again? Who is it? Paveena? Last I heard Niwatthamrong took the job, but that was last week. Obviously, I am way behind. When did they change?

Two bombings rock Narathiwat railway

NARATHIWAT, May 14-- Two bomb blasts have hit and damaged railway bridges in Ra-ngae and Cho-airong districts of this restive province early today, temporarily halting rail services.

After the blast at a railway bridge in Bukit subdistrict of Cho-airong district, local police chief Pol Col Suchart Sa-ie and other officials responded to investigate and helpd the scene.

An initial investigation found that the homemade bomb was built in a gas cylinder and weighed about 20kg. The powerful explosion damaged the railway bridge pier.

Meanwhile, a bomb explosion in Tanyongmat subdistrict of Ra-ngae district destroyed the railway bridge pier and some parts of the bridge. Fragments of a 50kg bomb built into a gas cylinder were found scattered around the site.

Following the explosions, train services, both inbound and outbound to Su-ngai Kolok district, have been suspended. It was expected to take few days for repairs. (MCOT online news)

What happen Khun Thawil since you replace Khun Paradorn in his NSC job. You was so critical when you on the outside of the policies. I have yet to see any new initiatives and situation is getting worse as though the insurgents are treating you with disregard.

Why do they call it a Restive Provence?....in the news report.

Probably because they weren't confused by "restful" or "resting". Or maybe a capitalization error. Or maybe we all have too much time on our hands.
