TWO-MONTHS-AFTER-COUP REPORT
Improvement on many fronts after two months: NCPO

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The ruling National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) yesterday summarised its performance after two months, saying all tasks undertaken had resulted in positive trends - the political divide showed signs of reconciliation, the economy improved and foreign countries had got a better grasp of developments here.

In regard to security, the junta boosted cooperation and work with all agencies to strengthen national security, as well as explaining to the international community about the need for its work, spokesperson Sirichan Ngathong said.

Representatives of foreign governments had met with military leaders many times to show their understanding and support, she said, and the foreign media began to report about Thailand in a positive way.

The NCPO had dealt with many problems over recent months such as crime, narcotics, smuggling, trafficking, management of migrant workers, plus economic issues, she said.

In regard to economic affairs, major resolutions included easing people's living costs, financial support for rice production, and approving project applications for tax privileges worth some Bt200 billion in total. The junta also agreed to extend the value-added tax (VAT) rate of 7 per cent by one year until September 30, 2015.

Meanwhile, the nationwide rice audit ordered by the junta is drawing to a close this week as scheduled, raising hopes that the state's mounting rice stockpiles can start to be released and the nightmare is end soon.

Since the NCPO initiated the inspection early this month, 18 million tonnes of pledged rice in 1,787 granaries around the country have been checked by troops against records for both quantity and quality.

The headaches of those involved will soon be gone, said ML Panadda Diskul, permanent secretary of the Prime Minister's Office and head of the committee for examining the state's rice inventory.

He said on Facebook that many owners of warehouses storing state rice under the rice-pledging project were tired of the surveys and the problem-plagued scheme, tired of being pushed into the "spotlight" and tired of the doubts of society as to whether they were involved with the project.

"They would like the bad dreams to end. Whatever the outcome will be, they will be a loser one way or the other," he said.

There was also a big problem related to the rice-pledging scheme that many people overlooked - expediting the launch of that populist policy without concern about the reputation of Thai rice.

"So, this matter has turned into a defect in the country's strategy implementation [for rice] until it turned into a fiasco," he wrote.

However, inspections in 14 eastern provinces found few flaws. There were 429.8 tonnes of rice missing or 0.018 per cent of the 2.32 million tonnes in total on the lists, the Second Army Area spokesman said yesterday.

Not improvement in many fronts, but improvement in ALL front.

Since the great Supreme Gen Prayuth lead us:

Corruption has stopped, now traffic police is willing to issue real traffic tickets

All mafia shut down, all taxi / bike /van behaves better

Free food and concert to all Thais, not need to go to overpriced Taylor Smith concert which is cancelled.

Diesel price for my Porsche Panamera Diesel, came down.

All Islamic bombers in the south either ran away to Malaysia or in hiding.

Bus is still free.

Free haircut and street shopping.

All casino shut. No underground lottery because govt lottery has revert to 80 Baht.

Free world cup on free TV.

Free digital TV.

Free movies.

Free health care.

Pension for farmers.

Flood is history.

Rice farmers get paid, and have the freedom to sell corp to anyone (not just to Yingluck)

Even Hamas and Israel cease firing.

The list goes on. It is so extensive, I cannot even finish typing it in my life time.

Still got bumped for Bht 1000 for allegedly doing 126 km/h near Bitec last week. The alternative was to surrender my licence which would go to a office in Bkk, and I could collect it in two weeks and pay Bht 2000. Took the easier way out.

I can fully understand some people, both Thai and farang, being skeptical of the improvements to everyday life since the Military rescue takeover.

Some have been brainwashed so thoroughly into believing that Thaksin was doing everything for the poor people of Thailand, and not for himself, that nothing will ever change their way of thinking.

When I first met my wife about 5 years ago she was a Thaksin fan, and supported the actions of the redshirts.

Now she has no time for the Shin family or their paid henchmen, and I bet there are a lot more like her out there.

If you removed the Military from the equation all hell would break loose, the redshirts would terrorize the country. But if you removed the Shins and the reds life would go on, and a lot less lives would be lost.

Not improvement in many fronts, but improvement in ALL front.

Since the great Supreme Gen Prayuth lead us:

Corruption has stopped, now traffic police is willing to issue real traffic tickets - Corruption has stopped? Not in this lifetime!

All mafia shut down, all taxi / bike /van behaves better - SOME "mafia" has been shut down, but by no means ALL.

Free food and concert to all Thais, not need to go to overpriced Taylor Smith concert which is cancelled. - Trust me, a LOT of people would have been happy to pay to go to the concert instead of listening to stupid "happy songs"

Diesel price for my Porsche Panamera Diesel, came down. - I am so happy for you and your Porsche! You ever seen a real rice field, or just pictures on television and newspaper?

All Islamic bombers in the south either ran away to Malaysia or in hiding. - Tell that to the people in Betong and the people in Saiburi this morning as they bury their dead from the bombs of the last 3 days.

Bus is still free. - Oh, god, what would we do without free buss rides?

Free haircut and street shopping. - Shopping is free now? I was under the impression that if you went shopping you had to PAY for something you wanted.

All casino shut. No underground lottery because govt lottery has revert to 80 Baht. - SOME casinos shut, but by no means, ALL of them. No underground lottery? Maybe not in your condo building, but no change in the rest of Thailand.

Free world cup on free TV. - Oh, yeah, a life saving decision, for sure!

Free digital TV. - Ahh, you might want to check again on the definition of "free".

Free movies. - Sure, as long as they are the ones about how great Thailand is, which is a joke itself.

Free health care. - No, it's not "free". People still have to pay.

Pension for farmers. - Not yet. Still in the early discussion stages, and may or may not be approved.

Flood is history. - Oh, really? Tell that to the people in the north and north east who have lost their homes so far this year. Oh, wait, they aren't in BKK, so they aren't "real Thai", right?

Rice farmers get paid, and have the freedom to sell corp to anyone (not just to Yingluck) - Rice farmers still sell to the millers. Nothing has changed.

Even Hamas and Israel cease firing. - So I guess the news this morning about the rockets and bombs still happening there was a lie made up by stupid foreigners, right?

The list goes on. It is so extensive, I cannot even finish typing it in my life time.

You are so out of touch with the real world that it's laughable. cheesy.gif

The biggest joke is your still in complete denial.

Oh really? How am I in "complete denial"? I agree that Gen P and the junta have done some good things, but Chottee makes it sound like Gen P is the 2nd coming of Christ and now it's a perfect world. It's a long way from that, and that is my point. I'm not Red and I'm not Yellow. I'm a REALIST and look at things as they ARE, not as I imagine them to be. Try that sometime. You might be surprised at the reality of life.

If you agree with the General in what they are doing, why make such a big yahooooo about him being OTT, that makes it look like you have one foot on both sides of the fence.

Wait till the General ANNOUNCES TO THE POPULATION,that he is PM, without a democratic vote

Good, even if he doesn't have a democratic vote initially, does not make it bad. Look at your last democratic vote did for Thailand, they got in and reversed the democratic into non democratic governing.

Even if he doesn't have a democratic vote initially, things will no doubt be arranged to ensure that he gets at least the appearance of one. Let's make no mistake, this Junta is in for the long haul, Burma style.

I say does it matter if it is not elected if it serves the country well, Thai people don't care, they elected PTP and look what they got.

1 The army is trying it's best to serve the country well in 2 months, not elected but running the country in a democratic mode of conduct.

2 PTP had near 3 years and failed to serve the country. they were elected--but ran a non democratic government as per promise-sworn to do.

We don't know whether or not the Thai People care. Since the whole process of overthrowing the PTP government began so many months ago, they have not been allowed a voice. The election which would have shown whether or not they cared was cynically and methodically suppressed and the junta show no intention of asking them.

You know as well as I do PTP self detonated. They had to be Overthrown --no elections for them -not worthy(record shows) you know the score why keep on with the PTP propaganda ?? no use in talking as it shows you are in perpetual propaganda mode, not even wanting to look at the promising things coming out of the clean up.

It's all been said before when PTP were in power, then when kicked out, same rhetoric from you few long winded posters that are trying to cling on to the edge of the cliff.

If you cannot see any positives coming from this----then give it a rest please.

As ever Gingag, any deviation from the truth as preached by you results in a personal attack. You really cannot accept any view other than yours can be allowed to be expressed.

I accept that you are an enthusiastic supporter of a military dictatorship. Personally it is not a view I subscribe to. At least do me and others who hold similar views the service of not dismissing us as mere propagandists. Otherwise we may come to suspect that you are merely an old fascist who insists on crushing dissent at all costs!

My truth. no deviation. finally PTP an elected government corrupt to the core, governing not as sworn in to do.

I support ANY betterment for Thailand, and as things are going after 2 months why not.

Thanks for the abuse Quote "fascist".

Dissent did you show it during PTP unlawful attempt.

My post was not to attack you personally but to attack a view that has been proven -governing way out of line.

I have said it before and will not change my view I will support any--- body---in power that does a country proud, so up to now I am supporting that.

I have no rhetoric to follow -no propaganda trail to stick to, only what I believe is beneficial.

If the army given time fails to deliver I will change my stance.

What is your truth PTP were a good government, and were unjustly overthrown ?? and the army is no good because you believe no army in control can be good.??
