Prosecution team formed to examine Ms Yingluck’s case

Because he was so wrong in trying the daring rice scheme, I think Thaksin is daring again and believing that Yingluck will never be found guilty of anything, but he must once again be wrong or Thailand may as well hand him the keys to the Kingdom.

This YL arrival is another showdown, hopefully the last.  Thaksin loves, I guess, high stakes games (as long as he personally does not have to suffer) and is sticking it to the Army, winner take all.

If Thaksin wins, he owns the nation.

Is it mere coincidence that the junta has waited for Yingluck's return to her homeland before checking the case against her will stand up in court? Perhaps they are not exactly brimming with confidence about getting a result and hoped she had done a runner like her big brother.

The fact that Thailand's high-profile first woman prime minisiter has returned face the discordant music indicates that she, at least, believes her chances of acquittal to be high. One thing is certain -  the prospect of her diminutive figure standing in the dock will be pure theatre to the international media which will turn the event into a feeding frenzy of publicity.

If the prosecution goes ahead and Yingluck is convicted, the question of a suitable punishment must be exercising the minds of the coup leaders. Under their tenure, some pretty swingeing sentences have been inflicted on prominent figures recently - not least the 20-year jail term meted out to media tycoon and former Yellow Shirts leader Sondhi Limthongkul.

More of the same could risk not only of a hostile backlash from millions of Peua Thai supporters - who have so far remained remarkably docile as their lesser leaders have been routed - but also from an international community largely hostile to the junta's campaign to bring happiness to the people by sidelining elected politicians and redefining democracy.

As in the case of Sondhi it is criminal court judges who decide the suitable punishment not the Junta with their Army Court. The Junta has since seizing power and still is staying out of criminal court judgments. The closest they have come to the judiciary in any action has been handing over individuals with outstanding arrest warrants after they completed their 7 day happy families Army camp as per the rules of the Martial Law Act.

I think you are over estimating the so called international frenzy and hostility which after a bit of wet bus ticket hand slapping from a few idealist western countries has disintegrated. Yingluck to the outside media is yesterdays news.

How soon will there be a team to investigate illegal seizure of power ?

Illegal seizure of power? I am struggling to get vote buying etc. to win an election by the Shinawatra's into an illegal seizure of power. Definitely not pure democratic principle. There isn't a new team being put together to investigate that but their are teams being put together to reform that process so the likes of the Shinawtra's will have to follow the law and lo and behold face a lawful consequence.

Illegal seizure of power? Certainly was not the legal seizure of power by the Junta as per the lawful and legal process of the Martial Law Act 1914 (you did know that existed didn't you or were just spouting off in frustrated endearment for the poor little Yingluck) which they have been adhering to since, so there will be no team to investigate that. But again there are teams being put together this month and next to bring about reform so that hopefully Thailand can move beyond major disruptions to its governance.
