Ukraine crisis: Obama blames Russia for violence

WASHINGTON: -- US President Barack Obama has accused Russia of being responsible for the violence in eastern Ukraine.

He said the fighting was not the result of a home-grown indigenous uprising but of "deep Russian involvement".

Mr Obama said fresh satellite images of Russian forces inside Ukraine made its role "plain for the world to see".

Russia denies claims by Nato that more than 1,000 Russian troops are fighting with the separatists. It accuses Ukraine of attacking its own people.

Nato is to hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the crisis.

It follows Thursday's emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York.

Pro-Russian separatists have recently opened a new front in the conflict, seizing the south-eastern coastal town of Novoazovsk.

Stand by for escalation. Russia have just approved the sale of 400 Billion in oil to China for payment in yuan. Its major oil company is also now trading oil in Rubles. Every single country that has ever tried to use an alternative currency to the dollar for oil has been attacked/invaded by the US.

............................and President

Strange comments... Russia is already in the process of invading Ukraine and you are blaming US and Europe. The separatist leader in a public interview said that there some 4,000 Russian citizens and military personnel 'on leave' fighting on the side of separatists. There are satellite images showing Russian armored vehicles crossing into Ukraine. Perhaps you even still believe Putin that there is no Russian military in Ukraine?

Everybody loves to blame America. I think it's time to show Russia that we don't play. Russia is only s shell of their former self. They don't have the clout anymore.

I'm not advocating war. That should be the last thing America should do. War doesn't benefit anyone, and Russia has a nice supply of nukes. Hurting Russia economically is the way to go. No country is going to come to Russia's defense.

America and it's allies must set the tone. We also need to get China on our side. America has been in the process of putting troops in SE Asia. Hopefully, we don't have to use them.

Thank god we have a president who can think critically and is rational. Imagine if Bush was president? We would have American troops amassed on the Russian border!

Anyone who blames the USA over Russia are utter fools. Putin is doing this and it is obvious. The USA has got to stand up to him for the sake of greater Europe. There was once a guy called Hitler who was given too much lee way, especially by the USA., and remember what happened there.

So the EU countries that are using the Eurodollar have been invaded by the US?

Do tell what Ukraine had, has or will have anything to do with US,

Why does US feel the need to interfere?

Why do we feel the need to interfere? Unfortunately it's what we do best. We need to be everywhere, yet we need to fix issues at home.

Why are we putting forces in SE Asia? Why do we still have troops in South Korea and Germany? Why are we still in the middle east?

Obama thinks critically and is rational? That is the best laugh I have had in a long time. His "critical and rational" thinking is making things worse by the day. So much going on in the world and he is doing basically nothing, but going to fund raisers. I am embarrassed to say that he is my president..

The US doesn't need to interfere, but NATO can. Ukraine isn't a NATO country...yet, but the countries that border it are and there is a clause in the NATO articles that will allow for NATO to go in....

Maybe he wants to rebuild a little empire - like the former USSR.

There was good reasons, historical and ethnic wise, to understand the Crimea. (As there was with Sudetenland for Hitler).

Now he has a taste, believes the west weak, and pre-occupied elsewhere, and has power over some because of their reliance on Russian gas.

He seems to be trying to establish a "Greater Russia" - turning into a dangerous man.

There are probably all sorts of clauses that allow NATO to interfere anywhere the US pleases. They did a 'wonderful' job in Libya after lying through their teeth over supporting the rebels.

Despite a deep suspicion regarding NATO & US finger pointing, it is quite likely that Russian troops are aiding the separatists. Russia has an Obama-style red line - no NATO in Ukraine controlling the Black sea.

The EU is in a real pickle, especially Germany. They are being pushed & prodded by the US into sanctions that have come back to hurt them and reliance on gas flowing into Germany & others from Russia is always under threat. The Russian sanctions barely touch the US.

It's sad but following Crimea, it's likely that Ukraine will be further split, at least temporarily, unless they can find their own negotiators, free from outside 'help', to do a deal with Russia that gives the separatists some sort of autonomy.

Who has blamed the US? You read 'US' and automatically assume people are attacking them/you. How insecure! Re read my post, I simply stated 'stand by for escalation' and I actually made no comment at all on who is or is not responsible. My last sentence is simply fact concerning other oil rich nations.

What is the eurodollar? I still see the word dollar in there.

The Eurodollar whatever that is, is not the Iraqi Dinar or the recently minted Libyan Gold Dinar that Gaddafi was going to use, nor is it the Ruble or the Yuan.

Funny I have just been into my FX account and cannot find the eurodollar anywhere. How do I trade it, it sounds interesting.

The start was having Crimea under Russian control (Historical and Military requirements) by a seemingly pro Russian militia coup. Now would it not be a good idea if Russia would like land access to this newly acquired land. And how is it that there is no other area in the Ukraine than the coastal regions that attach Russia with the Crimea and happen to have a pro Russian well equipped military army in the area. It is a very good strategic move by Putin and his followers to grab this land when they have seen how ineffectual NATO and the European heads of state are at stopping dictators. And the more he denies any involvement, the weaker the West, NATO and the Ukrainian people become by soft actions on a hard people like the Russians. China have been using this same technique for decades.

But don't get me wrong, the Europeans perfected this technique over the past few hundreds of years of attrition (UK done China, Australia, Americas, Africa, etc, etc, etc)

It's a war between 2 countries and America need to stay out of it. America love to get involved in others problems and that is the problem. Russia has North Korea and China on their side, if it does break out which we all hope it won't, America would want to be damn sure they are ready.

Too funny for words.

Even if anyone considers any of the moves Putin has made as being " aggression " it was necessary for him to do so as a pre-emptive strike to thwart far more destabilising plans the US and EU together have for Russia.

America had better concentrate on dealing with its problems in the Middle East as those people have issued a direct threat against USA. On the other hand Russia has done nothing of the sort. Russia is no kind of threat whatsoever to the United States but equally it will not be manoeuvred and manipulated by outside parties.

America had better think very long and hard before taking on not one but two nuclear powers.

In just this morning in a series of statements Putin said no matter what USA does it turns out like Libya and Iraq. So I don't think he's worried about the huffing and puffing from the West.

I do not know, may be i am going crazy, but looking at the images, how does one determine its Russian?

It was Putin who asked the rebels to let 7000 Ukrainian soldiers safe passage to return home.

The leader of the rebels is a Ukrainian,

Russia has taken in over 150 000 refugees from Ukraine and is the ONLY country who has taken refugees.

Russia is the only country providing humanitarian aid.

It is already a known and published fact that thousands of civilians are being killed by Ukrainian forces.

It is already a known fact that Ukrainian forces shell and bomb civilian targets, schools, hospitals and houses.

It is already a known fact Ukraine planned to set up camps, no different to concentration camps to "sort out people"

It is a fact that Kiev does not even try to have a dialogue with the rebels, AGAIN, keep in mind rebels are not looking to invade or advance, but simply want independence.

Yet Obama blames Russia for escalating?

So what has Obama done to de-escalate? provide some arms to Ukrainian army and promise some money?

If Obama is so concerned with the situation in Ukraine, why does not he send Kerry to hold negotiations between the rebels and Kiev?

If Obama is so concerned, why does he not derive a plan or proposal for both party's to negotiate or compromise?

I am sorry to say, but in this case US involvement has created more problems for all parties involved but the US.

EU has lost billions in exports and are in danger of loosing gas supplies

Ukraine is cut off from gas supplies

Russia, China and South America are strengthening their ties and relations in all aspects.

Iran could not care less anymore what US thinks about its nuclear program because Russia is not longer putting pressure.

I realize i am going slightly off topic, but all is connected one way or another and all Obama appear to be doing is creating more and bigger problems for the whole world.

There are people that hate democracy and liberalism.

They want dictators in China and oligarchs in Russia to rule the world.

That would necessarily mean "neutralizing" the United States.

Subjugating the European Union.

These people are more mad than the Japanese were on December 7, 1941

And that Hitler was on September 1, 1939.
