Will be travelling to Roi Et next month and looking for some accommodation. I was there late last year and stayed at a place I think, called the Petcharat Hotel, it had a big swimming pool and was reasonably priced at around 600 Baht per night. I have tried in vain to look for a website to enable me to book, can anyone provide me contact details for this place or any other ideas for alternate accommodation.

The contact details are below. It is best to ring first but I stayed there in April and had no problem getting rooms for (I think) 620 baht each. Some rooms could do with redecorating, and breakfast is not the best, but the pool is good and it is probably the best deal in Roi Et. This hotel is close to Roi Et's main entertainment district, but is perfectly respectable if you are travelling with your family.

Petcharat Garden Hotel

404 Kokchapayuk Rd.

T. Nuamuang, A. Muang

Tel 043 519000 - 9

Another option is the more expensive Roi Et City Hotel closer to the shopping centre and near the White Elephant restaurant. If you want something more risque, with Karaoke, etcetera, try the Mai Thai Hotel which is on a parallel road about 600 metres from the Petcharat. The website that I found useful before my visit is this one:

Roi Et is one of the nicest Isan cities and well worth a visit. It is probably about the most economical destination for an hotel with swimming pool in central Isan, if you want to take the family away for a weekend. Equally the entertainment district has enough going on to keep a single traveller interested.

We stayed at a great place in March this year called " Poon Petch Sport Club co. ltd. "

Phone 0-4351-6391-4 Mobile 09-2731003

52 Robmueng st.

Across the road from The Roi Et City Hotel and just a few doors away from The White Elephant.

It is an apartment building. The rooms are clean with a/c and balcony and the service and food are excellent. It has a resturant and bar and was brand new when we stayed there. A swimming pool was about to be built out the back. Security outside at night.

I got a decent Farang breakfast at one of the outdoor shops next door but we ate at Poon Petch.

If you like to be left alone and do your own thing this is the place.

Forgot to mention hot shower and real toilet. Fridge if you want but will have to tell them.

Highly recomended.

The situation is much as what I said above. I stayed again in April 2009 and I think the hotel is pretty much the same.. There are two prices of basic rooms for either one king or two (mid-size) beds I think the price was still under 700 baht. There is now free internet in the lobby, which I found I couldn't get in my bedroom but may reach some. The only downside with the lobby is that it has opening shutters which let the mosquitoes in. The large pool is still nice and a big draw with kids. There is a restaurant/cafe which features singers later in the evening. The entertainment quarter is still there, though on this trip I didn't think it was as good as before. There are many restaurants within walkable distance, including a huge outdoor food court, with several Korean-style barbecues, plus other options. My recommendation is the aircon restaurant just over the bridge towards town (turn left from hotel). This is on the righthand side on the corner of the first building you come to. In my view it is still the best deal in Roi Et if you want a pool.

Petcharat would be my first choice. Some nice shopping near by also. Nice eatery near by. A Tesco Lotus in town for the past four years :D:):D
