Read in 'the other paper' they in fact got the lid slammed on their noses by the Khmers about the main reason for this Thai roadshow: Preah Vijear! Well deserved in fact, as it are not the Khmers, anymore, needing an access for tourists from the Thai side, but as the Thai authorities go on attempting to work themwelves around the execution of the, now quite clear, ruling in favour of Cambodia, let them soak in their own juice then. Well done by the Khmer, but will the Thais learn from it? NEVER! The permanent confrontation with the obtuse and stubborn sides of Thainess would make me consider donkeys here as the local greyhounds... Oh boy, it's as if they are not able, or don't even want, to learn, let it be from what H. M. King Rama V has wisely achieved during His reign in order to secure His countries' essential borders, what a pity! Can't win them all, Thais, you lost the plot already about Preah Vijear, big time, and your face too, by rejecting working towards a sensible compromise, then, when it was still the time, you can only make it go worse now, and, no, it will not go away by itself... Do we need to expect new 'incidents' for soon, with guns and artillery at work again...?

You are somewhat aggressive here. You assume and state a lot without the other newpaper mentioning any of that.

The BP simple states that PM Prayut on Wednesday said to hope for joint development on tourism covering Preah Vihear and his Cambodean counterpart rejecting the inclusion with arguments of good roads and luxury hotels in the surrounding area. Still a MoU was signed on cooperation. Also signed a MoU on 'clamping down on trafficking of children and women' and one on 'railway links between the countries.

I agree, rubi, but one of the stated objectives (by the Thai press) of the trip was to open up Preah Vihear from the Thai side. Sure looks to me like the good General was snubbed.

Also, MoU's always sound good from a PR point of view but are not worth the paper they are written on unless followed up with action. Cooperation? Makes you feel warm and fuzzy but means nothing. Finish the bridge? Sure... because it means money for Thailand. Clamp down on human trafficking? I wish !!!

Whatever the importance of MoUs, those where to ones to be signed.

We had

2014-10-27 PM Prayut to sign three MoUs on tourism, trafficking and rail liks

2014-10-29 PM prayut to sign three MoUs on trafficking, rail links and tourism

2014-10-30 PM Prayut is expected to discuss Preah Vihear as joined tourism destination

2014-10-30 On Wednesday PM Prayut said he hoped Preah Vihear to be included. Cambodian counterparts reject the idea. Three MoUs signed

Somehow it would seem the planned objective was reached, PM Prayut's wishful thinking not.
