Has anyone tried using SIM's from two different companies in the phone at the same time (e.g. AIS, True)? Have you had any issues with that setup? Advantages?

I use an AIS contract sim and a True PAYG sim without any problems. True was my original sim but now is mainly just used for making and receiving calls in the UK. AIS is my main sim because the 3G coverage was better in the areas lived and visited.

No problems with set up and I can use all functions on both sims, although, with my phone (i-mobile IQX 2) if I switch to internet use on the second (True) sim I lose all functions on my primary (AIS) simfor the time I'm switched to it. If I use AIS for the internet I still have all functions on True.

This is just the way i-mobile phones work, which, as far as I'm aware though, is better than with most dual sim phones. With a lot of them only one of the sim slots will give you internet access. There's no option to switch to the second sim within the phones, you have to physically swop the sim cards over to get internet access from the second sim.

No doubt somebody will come on here to explain which phones have what functions for each sim.

For me it's much more practical than carrying two phones.

Yes of course, in a I-Mobile IQ9, I had my Thai 3GX sim for local, and my EE UK sim for roaming just in case i got a call from Blighty. No issues.

You choose functions like "Use Data - Click 3GX or EE" - Make Call - Use 3GX or EE" - of course you can set this up so it knows what does what, i've had no issues..

No issues using 2 different sims, however both my Samsung dual sim phones had the same problem after a year, 1 sim slot went dead on both phones.
