Funny. The Thais let them out, then negotiated to get them back.

  • "Five carats of diamonds were also seized from their possession" How much was stolen?

  • Just a simple question. Why didn't the Thai police apprehend them but they had to ask the Cambodians to do that and bring them back ? Or this is too complicated?

The smile on my face is quite large this morning! It's 18th century policing at it's best!

Moe,Larry and Curly, why didn,t they split up, lay low, not sprint for the Border?.

No sense

Too bad the high speed train was not built yet...

A curious point. On the sign at Sakaeo Immigration the English version of the name is spelt as it sounds (which is helpful to non-Thai readers) but in the article it is spelt with a straight transliteration - Srakeaw which would confuse anybody. Don't they have copy editors at Thai PBS?

Most likely since they were informed before hand of there pending stroll through there immigration checkpoint, they collected the standard payment to the retirement fund to allow safe passage through there checkpoint. But big boss said not enough so they called other side and had them returned. Thus saving face and possible reward from the vendor. But only guessing at this point since my comment on Quality tourist's offended the Elitist here who are so politically correct. cheesy.gif

Hope the shop actually sees what was stolen, they'd be pretty lucky. One can imagine all kinds of scenarios as to how the diamonds were stolen in the first place. Hopefully they learned their lesson, otherwise more thieves will be back and the word on the street in China is probably already that Thai shops are an easy hit.

Even more scenarios as to what happens to the diamonds from here on. Temptation for corrupt BsIB??

better give them a cavity search & some x-rays

Headline should be Cambodian border police catch robbers in Cambodia.

5 carats! Have more sparkling on my finger- not exactly the heist of the century.

Silly. Carat weight has little bearing on it's own with regard to value. All four C's are what matter.

I bet that upset them. Just when they thought the coast was clear.

+1...Strange that they even allowed them to cross.

Not really when you consider the allaying lack of communications between various agencies, hey this is the third world.
