English ATM Max withdrawal amount with Thai Bank Card?

Featured Replies

Hi

I will be travelling to England shortly

The max limit in Thailand for an ATM withdrawal in 25000 Baht or +- 500 pounds.

So based on this, when in England I will be charged 100 baht per 500 pounds withdrawal (confirmed by Bangkok Bank).

But I have been told that some English Banks will allow you to withdraw 1000 or even 2000 pounds as a single withdrawal from an ATM with a Thai Card (I have a Bangkok Bank Debit card).

I.e. I will still only be charged 100 baht for withdrawing 1000 or 2000 pounds as it is just a single transaction.

Has anyone had experience of this and can tell me which English banks might be best to use if I want to withdraw more than 500 pound in a single withdrawal, and so save on the 100 baht per transaction fee.

I know it's not a huge saving but it will all help whilst I am in England!!

Thank you

In Thailand there is a limit of number of notes per transaction, with most banks 20 notes but with Bangkok Bank 25, therefor normally 25,000 Baht.

However this has no bearing on the daily limit, and that daily limit will affect the maximum per transaction in the UK. Since different cards can have different limits, and these limits can be changed easily, best thing to do is check with your bank.

Hi

Good point on the max daily limit.

Mine is set to 50 000 baht per day.

So that should mean I can withdraw 1000 pounds in one transaction as long as the ATM in England can issue 20 x 50 pound notes.

And if I increase my daily limit to 100 000 baht a day then I withdraw 2000 pounds in one transaction - again depending on how many notes the ATM in England can issue in one go.

Is that correct?

You may find that the daily allowance is significantly greater than the amount that you can withdraw at any one time, so you may have to make at least two withdrawals to reach your daily limit.

As for which banks might do your bidding, I have no idea. Sorry!

My Visa card is a virtual bankacount when I put money in withdrawl limit go up so I count roll limit

30k at krungsri at One Time

In my experience UK cashpoints have a maximum single withdrawal limit of £500.

You can of course make two or three consecutively.

I used my SCB HIP CARD few years ago (not even a debit card) and was staggered it worked in a Barclays ATM for £400......!! I was waiting at a Mall for a friend and messing around thought I'd try it !!

The entry was 100 Baht fee re charges
